Interesting damaged RS on ebay!

It would be a good project for the winter . I think the first 10K of repairs might be spoken for , mainly on parts , so you need a source of free skilled labour ( your own?) . Buying in at 20k would be brave , buying in at 10k and spending another 15k would not be attractive either.....well , not to me anyway [:D]

It does seem overpriced. It will always be a cat d write off and if you think that a clubsport is worth, say, £35K, I would suggest that when rebuilt its only worth £25K.

I read the write up and looked at the pictures first..........I thought similar, great winter project and a superb track car when finished.........Then I saw the price, oh dear.
M.T.F.D for me and we've got a bodyshop!

Hmmmm ClubSport.......Motec engine probably done by Colin Belton Ninemeister very valuable in straight top condition....looks a good project for someone at the right money..!

Guys, I bet Melv's car has looked like this on more than one ocassion..... If the chassis is straight a visit to the Porsche breakers would get bumpers, lights and wings. If it is for track use rather than investment then who cares? The Motec must have been fitted at Colins so he may know the car? Worth a bit to. You could sell it to pay for the repairs! If it was £15K I would be tempted but if Jason only paid this for his one then it does look a tad pricey. Black ones are cheaper after all..... ;O)

realistically there is probably about £15k 's worth of damage there, probably a bit more (10k in parts 5k in labour) add in the cost of the car and you have the cost of a clubsport or there abouts. So only really worthwhile if you happen to be the owner of a body shop and can lose the 5k labour bill, even then you could not look at it as a money maker. Avery very good bodyman with time on his hands could probably reduce the parts bill with some deftly panel beating. But again that takes lots of time(and for most time is money). if the price was more like £10k then it makes more sense, even for someone to buy and have repaired. Agreed it's value will be around what you put in but you will have the knowledge that it's been done correctly. There are plenty of CS out there that simply are'nt registered as cat D and command higher price for the same deal!

Lee looks like a project for you that would answer your GP White Garage Queen question.....Motec and ClubSport what you waiting for although does seem pricey[&:]

Actually on reflection I think i've overdone it a bit with the part guesstimate. I think you could probably half it . And if you went the breakers yard route you could reduce still further(bear in mind you would no doubt buy new front and rear pu's unless you don't worry about originality and like filling holes, or get lucky at the breakers). Still be be overpriced though.

Well I've got a perfect used front PU to fit the car- without cutouts for headlamp washers. Wrong colour, but the sprayer will be needed in any event so no big deal about that. If any one gets lucky and needs it let me know.

I could be wrong but that looks like the same sort of damage that occured to a black RS at the last SPA event run by RMA.... car went off through Blanchement and took a fiar bit of the armco with it

The car was sold to the owner by me. I can vouch for the ebay description of its pre-accident condition. The MOTEC was done by Colin and I still have all the original CAT, throttle body, injectors, air box, ECU, etc. I can see rear chassis frame is slightly tweeked to the left and a good body man can straighten that perfectly and salvage the rear wing with out needing to raplce it or use hardly any filler. I estimate the rear end repair to be no more than £3k and this would retain original panels. Front end a different story. Needs new front panel, probably boot floor and inner chassis rail at least on the off side. Wings are bolt on / off items and neither here nor there. The car wont be a cat D in Europe. It's far less damaged than a lot of them and it will retain all it's original stickers after the repair.

The car is indeed the one sold by RSR and yes it did have a BIG off at Spa earlier this year,
however the owner at the time is no longer the owner .

Having seen the car after the incident and spoken to it's ex-owner recently, any potential purchaser should look VERY closly at the damage. The individual concerned has very good connections in the motor trade and he decided to part company with it - read into that what you like....

Good story Paul , just the thing to tell the grandchildren on these dark winter nights. Please tell us more - where you there ? [:)]

Oldtimer - long time no see!

Car went off at blancmont(sp?) 2 at Spa, took about 3 sections of armco out and the impact speed was well into 3 figures - head on! Both occupants of the car at the time suffered no injuries (testament to the strength of the RS).

Shame as the car was absolutly mint and very fast.
