Interior cleaning - Picture heavy!

The trouble with 25 year old light coloured carpets is they show the dirt. My carpets and seats were not too bad but they were not as clean as I would like. So, I took to getting them a little cleaner.

Process was pretty easy, using run of the mill products (I have just returned home from abroad for a break, so I did not use the usual products I would buy. Halfords and AutoGlym would need to do). Luckily, I had some Autoglym Multi Purpose cleaner left over at home from previous purchases.

The process was simple.

CARPETS
Hoover
Spray on AG All purpose via misting bottle
Rub in with a upholstery brush (dip in water first)
Leave for a few mins
Rub with cotton cloth (Damp)
Rub with chamois leather (Damp)
Leave to dry

Did the same for the black mats

LEATHER
Clean with AG leather cleaner
Rub in AG Leather balm
Leave for 10 minutes
Rub with Microfibre

The results were good, I also spent some time cleaning the boot area and inside the spare wheel well and also cleaned all the vinyl/plastic in the interior.

I also put in some nice 80's/90's tapes for some period tunes! Also!! I bought a jack to jack, and my iPhone 6 plays through the stereo - Bonus for a 25 year old cassette player :)

Pics then (only afters)

Looks amazing Patch, I much prefer the lighter interiors in these, I find my current all black interior a little dull - I still regret not buying this car when I had the chance, lol!!

Well done!

Hahaha, yes good spot. The boot is not releasing on one side, the string does the trick. Another little job I need to get on too.

I took my linen interior out last summer and cleaned it then. And when I mean 'took it out', that includes the carpets. I scrubbed them with a strong solution of bleach, soda crystals and warm water and jetwashed them off. The colour of the water that came out was staggering - it looked very much like hot chocolate. Once the carpets had all dried in the sunshine I brushed them with a stiff brush to restore the pile and put them back in, and they both looked and felt a lot cleaner and softer. It's well worth doing, as yours shows.

Oli.

I used bleach solution on mine about 7 yrs ago.....still look great today. Works a treat on linen carpets only!

Mine still has the standard stereo also, it is good that we can plug in modern media players twenty five years later, your car looks great.

Cheers, Paul
