Interior Colour Code

All,

Any ideas where I can find out what interior colour has been spec'ed on a car? I am pretty certain that the interior I have is a classic grey/midnight blue combination, but I read something the other day (I can't remember where now), which seemed to suggest that the normal interior combination was marble grey/midnight blue.

So, I decided to check the various lables to find the answer, but I must be having a rather dim moment because I can't work out where the interior trim colour is 'recorded'. I have done a quick search here but not found an answer. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

PS - I'm sure there will be plenty of other trivial questions over the coming months [8|]

And since I have not posted any decent pictures of my new car yet here you go - well it has been quiet on here and I have finished the first round of polishing the car...

Next jobs -> change the discs &pads, and replace the springs & shocks.

Two places you will find it,
1, a white label under the front compartment lid near the locking latch
2, inside the guarantee and maintenance booklet
in both instances it will be on the forth line down after the paint code,
hope this helps,

Kevin - thanks for that I've got it now... NE ...though I am still no wiser!

I have done some further searching/reading and the '993 Essential Guide' states that the code on the VIL is derived from the combination of options for interior colours (seats. carpets, dash etc.), what it does not say is how the individual option codes (3 character) are combined to form the 'master' code (2 character).

After spending a while googling using various terms I doubt I will find any info about how the code is generated.

I thought this was going to be an easy one to answer [:D]

Yes the two letter code is "a calculated code based upon all the interior codes used." The possible number of combinations makes the task outrageous to say the least !! [&:] A phone call to the archives department at Stuttgart could be the only solution but I'd wager that they couldn't be ars*d to find it either [:D]. Let me know if you find it, good luck!

Very true, I like the colour so it does not really matter what it is called (yet). I dare say my local independent will be able to tell me which grey it is when it goes in for its next service.

Ha ha, why do pictures always disappear when you want to send/post them!

Here's mine, it's a bit blurry because using the flash made the grey look lighter than it really is:

And for the sharp eyed amongst you, yes the front end is much higher than the back, axle stands are in waiting for me to remove brakes and suspension and get all new stuff fitted.
