Interior light issue

I have an '05 987 2.7. The interior lights don't appear to work as advertised - with the switch over to the left (as seen by the driver) only the door lights illuminate when the locks are triggered. In either of the other two positions, the interior lights remain on indefinitely, though they will eventually extinguish if the car is locked from outside. This doesn't tally with the manual, or with ay other car I've ever had! Am I missing something, or is there a quick fix for this? I don't fancy a large PC Colchester bill for doing something that would take me 5 mins to fix....!

If you have PCM with Sports Chrono Plus you should be able to change the lighting timing. Otherwise, there is a PIWIS setting for the time that the lights remain lit. Either it is incorrectly set or the computer that controls the lights is faulty. Either way the PIWIS will show this.

No, it's not PCM/Sport Chrono equipped. I guessed the timer circuit was likely to be the culprit, but I held out a (slim) hope that there might have been a fix I could aoply myself! Hey ho - I'll get the PC to sort it. Thanks Nick.
