Interior rattle

I have an intermittent rattle from behind and I think I have identified it from the junction of the roof lining and the rear window surround. It's a hard plastic/metal structure. How is it attached? My 2001 pre-face lift Carrera has a sunroof. Does this alter the rear of the roof lining? I could give it a strong pull but I fear I may damage the clips or whatever is holding it up.

Found the answer on Pistonheads via Google. Rather than dismantling the roof lining the fix is to wedge some foam between the two vibrating surfaces, in this case, the rear screen and the back of the roof lining. The rattle has gone. Seems to be a common complaint and apologies if it has been covered before.

I may have the same problem only seems to happen after about 60 mph been trying everything maybe this is the same problem, will give your solution a go.

I had a similar problem with my 1999 Carrera 4. The rattle was coming from immediately behind the sunroof, and if you pushed up there with your fingers, you could stop it. Also it never happened when the sunroof was open. I was told the headcloth would have to come out - a specialist job apparently! - and quoted £250 for it. Consequently I did nothing about it for a long time. Then I lost patience with it and went to another garage who advertised working on Porsches. They've just brought the car back, having simply removed the sunroof and glued a loose component back in place. Total cost £35 + VAT! Haven't driven it yet, but all being well, a good outcome.
