Hi all, first time posting here. I purchased my Cayman about 9 months ago and from day one I wasn't happy with the black leather interior, it's just too cold and dark for me. I had it in my head to have it retrimed at the first chance I got, deciding on colour was the slowest part. Just got it back last week,.Very happy with the results give me your taughts, the stitching on the black is the same colour as the centre colour. Before and after pics below.

Hi Monty, welcome to the forum, it certainly brightens up the black interior and it's rare to see two tone interiors in the UK. Although there is an option. Personally I like the lighter interiors as when a car is all black inside it can seem a little claustrophobic but some dealerships seem to push black as most people will accept it even when they prefer other interiors. Since all of the parts you had changed are removable, did you just order the pieces from Porsche? Then have the stitching done to match? Where did you get the work done?

Looks nice Micheal. Black and tan looks great in a black car. I think I might have been tempted to do the lower section of dash and glove box too. I would be interested to know who did the work too.

A lot also depends on the exterior colour of the car, mine being black it was all a little too dark as you say. It was impossible trying to find anything other than Black interior over here in Ireland when I was buying mine. No didn’t get any of the parts from Porsche, I wanted to upgrade it all to Nappa leather while I was at it. A company in Dublin Cartronics done the whole thing for me the standard of work is excellent. The seats are far more comfortable with the Nappa leather. The pictures don’t do it any justice, it’s better than any factory finish I have ever come across.

The Lower section of the dash was something that I taught about doing. I might still return to have it done at a later stage.

I like the idea and can see what you're trying to do. I dont like the way Porshe do 'other' colours other than black in the intrrior, as you end up getting the entire interior in that colour. But what you've done is exactly how I think Porshe should allow its customers to spec their cars. For me, I would have chosen a deep red. But that's just a personal choice! I have thought about going for red belts in mine. I'm glad you like it are happy with the quality of workmanship. Dan.

Porsche do a two tone option which I've never seen on a UK spec car but if you check out the build your Porsche on their website for the new Boxster it does look good although earlier colour choices tended to be a bit odd. Like Richard I do think the lower dash being done to match the seats would look nice but I may also add the door grab handles and instrument cowl. Certainly a nice touch using the Nappa Leather although I like the perforated leather on my sports seats.

It is possible to order a car like that from the factory but it's an option most customers are unaware of and most sales people don't seem familiar with either or find it too much effort to get the codes right. You just need to order deviating leather which came under the Z offers heading on the 987 and 997 models in the dealers version of the configurator. I spec'ed a Boxster with deviating seat inserts and the door armrest in alcantara and had all of the stitching in a different colour as well.
