Interior temperature sensors

Chaps,

My S2 has a temperature sensor on the dashboard, with the little fan behind it, to tell the heating system how hot or cold the car is. This is mounted behind a little circular vent thing with some slots in it.

However, there is a similar circular vent thing with slots in it by the O/S (I think) rear window, at the back. Is this a secondary sensor for the same system, or does it do something else? (I haven't taken it off to have a look behind and see what there is there.)

Does it look like an original part of the car or could it be an ultrasonic motion sensor from a previous/current alarm system?

If its in the rear quarter panel it sound like a factory fitted alarm sensor but im sure that they should be on both sides ??

They will be alarm sensors in the back, nothing to do with the heating system, there is the vent in the dash that leads to the interior sensor, there is a sensor in the airbox and one in the scuttle.

Hope that helps!

Chaps,

I forgot to look last night when I went home - sorry!

From memory, it looks like just the same piece as is in the dash for the interior temp sensor, but is blue not black. I think it is only on the driver's side. I don't think it is alarm related, but I could be wrong ... I'll have a look this evening and report back. (I don't have a digi camera which would be useful for this sort of thing - sorry!)

Oli.
