Hi,just wondered if anyone had done this job before..
my car, LHD turbo bodied cab. has been melting its 25 amp blower fuse for a while.
On investigation the passenger side fan is worn out and sticking. apart from the absolutely outrageous purchase price of the motor does anyone know an easier way to fit it without disconnecting air con pipes, fuse board, firewall etc.?
thanks
Nick

Nick, Porsche soon realized that 25 amp was not enough for the rear blower and issued a technical service bulletin to say that a 30 amp should be used instead. It's quite safe to do this. Maybe your cure is as simple as that?

I would try the 30A fuse first. If you do need the fans (I needed both of them) it is quite a lot of labour (6hrs?) to do them, as you mention. So unless you are doing the work yourself, it might be worth closing your eyes and buying them new (as opposed to a cheap second hand part from a breakers). Ridiculous cost, but there isn't another option. I asked on here, 911uk and rennlist and no one has successfully repaired these fans, or found an aftermarket part. They lasted 19 years and 95k miles last time, hopefully they last as long this time.

Hi Nick,

I am going through this issue as well but also need a new climate control (non AC) unit as well as the central stepper motor. Even with 30A fuse it occasionally blows..

How much have you been quoted for the motor?> I'm sitting down.

PLUS > If I adjust the temperature control on my heater whist driving I lose some electrics to the spark plugs causing the car to stutter....

cheers chaps!
a 30 amp fuse will certainly be tried tomorrow with fingers crossed!
Greg..I reckon the last figure I heard before I fellover began witha 5[]! Looks about a hundred quids worth to me!
thanks again
Nick
