Intermediate Shaft Bearing

Apart from Intermediate Shaft Bearing ,this been the only major cause for concern, a fix at £1500/1800 i am told, what other issues does the 996 suffer.
Thank you

The £1500/1800 is for a LN Engineering replacement ceramic hybrid bearing to be fitted. The manufacturer suggests this be treated as a maintenance item, and replaced at intervals, depending on the type of bearing fitted.

If you want to read up on the M96 engine issues, read the buyer's guides on the Hartech site at http://www.hartech.org

I don't deny there are issues, but I believe they are blown out of all proportion on Internet forums. The vast majority of these cars are trouble free (engine-wise) so try to put things in perspective when reading up on it.

Or take a look at the IMS Guardian. Specialist like Writghtune fit it easily enough. I have one and am happy with my choice. Thx

Thank you so much for the link & advisories. Much appreciated :) Although these problems seem very rare of the 996/boxter motor, it nice to know in the odd engine,(probably lack of oil changes) it occurs.

Gavin944s2, Re: IMSB I think if there were any stats which there isn't.
It would show any car ant any time regardless of oil changes.
And like Richard stated think of it a service item that's what LN state.
I don't understand how its such a major concern for people?
If we had bought a 355 for example we would be changing Cam belts as part of regular maintenance on those cars $$$.
