Intermit electrical cut out

Hi there felow porker's

Getting an intermtent electrical cut out on my C4s

Symptons ;-
Stereo cuts out and starts emidiately
Trip computer resets to zero
Bad starting now and then ie turn key and its as though the battery is flat - both windows drop and go up and hard to turn over.

Battery is in good condition but suspect some kind of short on the positive cable some where as though the cable is chafing onto body somewhere and shorting out!

Anyone had similar?

Thanks

If the battery is definitely good, then my first thought would be the ignition switch, which is a common failure, and causes all sorts of wierd electrical gremlins.

There is a DIY in the Technical Articles section. It costs about £20 to replace the switch.

Ey up Richard

a quick tinternet search and Ive ordered the part, its an audi/vw part and becker manufacture coming from parts supplyer in Birmingaham at an all in price delivered of the princly sum of £7.80 total.

Seems criminal not to get it and put it on - for sure it will definately eliminate the switch as a problem.

Thanks again for your expert knowledge and the DIY info - looks ok too.

brilliant Richard - keep up the good work.

Thanks

Brilliant DIY article Richard,

part arrived post and packing for just £7.80 - Ebay.

Fitted it saturday mornunning OK in about 35 mins, all up and running with no problems to report.

Must say that the DIY article is really good and clear, yes its a little fiddly but well worth it, keep up the good work Richard im sure I and many others owe you a beer or too for your knowledge and expertise.

Happy days [:D]

Thanks

You have to be a bit carerful with buying them from eBay. The original part was made by Hella, and even though they fail too frequently, the quality of some eBay items is far worse. If you have one embossed with the VW part number you will be fine.
