Intermittant fault

Hi all
Has anyone come across fault code which suggests bank 2 o2 sensor after cat
I know it is differcult for any technician to find the exact cause of these type of faults.
The car only seems to throw this fault up when driven hard then going back to more sensible driving
Just wondering if anyone out there might have had this problem

Paul,

Could be a small leak in the system giving an-out-range reading on the sensor.

Try checking the system for a small leak such as soot around a joint etc.

Otherwise it may be a faulty sensor, common with harsh environment electronics.

Clive.

In the 'old days' we used to spray 'easy start' around by any joints/pipes that we suspected and if there was an air leak the revs would change quite noticably [:D]

Mind you were were fully trained idiots [8D]

The car is back up to Exeter next week,so far they have found a loose intercooler pipe
and replaced a turbo actuator, all under warranty
I must admit I cannot fault Exeter for there service truly outstanding.
They have tested the o2 sensor which is working perfectly, voltage in and out all good, so somewhere
down the line there is a tiny hiccup which can be a pain for techi

Prevention is better than cure .... stop driving 'sensibly' [:)]

Good luck Paul,

I hate intermittent problems. They always occur when you don't want them and disappear when you do. [&:] [:D]

BTW the O2 sensor is not the same as a lambda (exhaust) sensor.

Regards,

Clive.

Where is the 02 sensor located,I must admit I thought it was the same.
Btw nice write up on under steer, much prefer the oversteer to understeer in the turbo
more controllable with the throttle,as long as I am not day dreaming[:D]

Paul,

The O2 sensor monitors the air/fuel ratio going in. The lambda sensors monitor the burnt gases coming out. There are usually 2 - 1 each side of the cat.

Clive.
