[blockquote]Intermittent knock/lashing noise on 2010 Porsche 987 Boxster.
Occurred about 800 miles ago after a 28,000 service and MOT, including replacement of the exhaust manifold bolts that are prone to failure. Appears after the engine is warm typically after 15/20 miles at no specific speed, slow 20/30 mph or 40/50 mph. The knocking/lashing noise comes from behind the driver on the offside on a smooth or bumpy road in straight line or bend. The offside fan vent access does smell a bit "rubbery” after use when turning engine off assume this is normal ?
There is no lack of performance and having been under the car with the Technician at Porsche Tewksbury recently who also test drove the car and heard the knock/lashing noise at 30 mph could not detect any defects, exhaust suspension or otherwise including a shake down on the ramp in the workshop. I removed some small stones from the panel below the differential when looking under the car when jacked up at home but otherwise no detectable loose parts.
I do not think it is anything do with the exhaust, heat shields, loose underneath plastic covers or suspension, ball joints, etc but could possibly be an area close to the fan as occurs once warn.[/blockquote][blockquote]Appreciate thoughts of other members who have experienced this issue.[/blockquote][blockquote]Regards, Stewart [/blockquote]
