Introduction and pics

I thought I had better do a proper intro. with pics. before I make any more posts. I have been posting on RL for years, so some of you may know me from there, though I don't post that often; more of a lurker [:D] and mechanical incompetent.

I bought my C4 3 years ago, in the knowledge that it would need a fair amount of cosmetic/mechanical work and have been emptying my bank account ever since. Almost where I want it to be, but having owned various classic cars before, I know I will probably never stop improving and fettling. The difference between my old cars and this one is that I will be keeping the C4; I really can't think of anything that I would want to replace it with. I sold a 1990 944 Turbo to buy it, and would like to have that car back again, or one similar, one day, but wouldn't sell the 964 to do it. So, pictures:

My old Turbo - great car! Sad to have sold it [:(]

Recently had a full re-trim at Southbound in the original colour, but with an RS hint; lost the rear seats, quater panels and the standard door furniture.

I have a long list of things still to do, but hopefully the work will be easier with advice and help from you chaps.

The car says thanks for the compliments. You would think it would be happy with all that expense, but no, looks like the starter solenoid is on its last legs - "Feed me Seymore!"

I must confess I bought it entirely because of the colour combination, although it did match all my other must haves and I had a PPI done. I did toy with the idea of having dog tooth seat inserts or tartan/chequer, but chickened out. You never know, I may still do that at some point.

For now, I want to get some proper 964RS style door handles. I have the 993Rs ones in at the moment, as I couldn't swallow £276 per handle for the Porshe items ( 993 ones were £100 the pair ). Has anyone tried these? : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320534800444&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

PS Dobson - always wanted an RX-7 when I was in my yoof. It was one of the reasons I went for the 944 Turbo as my first Porsche - the original pattern for Mazda. I bought an '88 Silver Rose, which had a gorgeous PINK interior ( so my mates told me - I say red ), that was until I stuffed it into a field near Hitchin.

Some very nice fields around Hitchin [:D]

I once ended up in a field of wheat between Codicote and Whitwell, having failed to slow enough and bottled out of trying to make a bend [&:]

Would have loved the 944 too. I always saw the 2nd gen RX7 (FC3S) as a Porsche wannabe. Mine was the later 3rd Gen (FD3S), however it ended up looking quite a bit more Porsche influenced with the addition of an RE Amemiya conversion and 993 lights (!).

Very nice

I had mine done by southbound too a couple of years ago. It's not cheap but defo worth it.

It's a slipery slope I have spent £££! But it's worth it in the end

keep up the good work

Tim

Hi Adam....the car is a credit to you...but I think I've said something similar before on Rennlist. Still need to see it in the flesh so don't forget our gathering at Oulton Park on 2nd June or our even bigger gathering at Curborough in October [;)]

Ha! I think I know that road well. Very tempting to hoon along it, but lots of off camber and farm traffic.

Aye Steve, one day I WILL make a meeting. I did the PCGB show last year. Will miss Husborne this weekened and the TIPEC meet as I am committed elsewhere; always seems to be that way when a Porsche meet comes up.
