Have a look at this post in R12 - looks like a good day out and not too far from our region. Cars, RC model aircraft, beer and BBQ - plus raising money for cancer and air ambulance - I'm pretty certain we'll be there!

I've copied and pasted the R12 post below for ease of reference. Furthermore, as this falls on the weekend of the cancelled Hogs and Porkers Run, is anyone else from Kent Region interested? If so, would you like to go alone or run up as a group?

Please note email received from R11 RO, Martyn Molyneaux - looks like a great event, please reply direct to Martyn:

Porsche And Leading Marques Show (PALMS)

The Essex Region of the Porsche Club cordially invite your Region to our R11 50th Anniversary celebrations of the Club on 26th June, 2011 at Stow Marie's Aerodrome, Hackman's Lane, Purleigh, Nr. Maldon CM3 6RN.

This year, being a special anniversary for our Club, we decided on something special and will be holding our event at a WW1 aerodrome. The aerodrome is the largest WW1 site remaining, which was the home of 37 (Home Defence) Squadron, Royal Flying Corp., subsequently 37 Squadron RAF. The site houses a small museum and is now owned by Mr. Steve Wilson and Mr. Russell Storey of RS Performance, who are bespoke vehicle builders, manufacturing about ten vehicles a year for specific clients, the cars including their own hand-built engine, which provide awesome performance. For further details of the aerodrome see www.stowmaries.com.

Twenty other car clubs are also invited to attend and so we hope for a great range of cars to admire. In the past we have had about 300 cars and would like to exceed that number this year.

We are planning to have vintage aircraft flying in, possibly the Essex Air Ambulance, model aircraft flying displays, an F1 simulator and some historic motor vehicles.

There will be a pay-as-you-go barbeque, and a local publican will be supplying liquid refreshment.
We will run the event between 11.00am and 4.00pm and so it would be good if cars started to arrive at 11.00am because the entrance to the aerodrome is smooth concrete and single track for much of it's length.
Because we wish to raise as much as we can for cancer charities and the Essex Air Ambulance, we will make a charge of £5 per person, children under 16 years being free. Please note, there will be no credit card or debit card facilities and so entrance, food, etc., will be strictly cash only.

This promises to be a wonderful event and I hope you will circulate these details to your members and notify them of the event at your Club night.

To assist in the organisation, it will be of great assistance if, by 12th June, you let me know how many cars you expect to come from your Region.

Best wishes,

Martyn Molyneaux

Any suggestions for a meeting place Mick - would be daft for you to come South from Swanley to Maidstone only to then go north again!

Quite. Let's understand that we (Sue and I) haven't committed yet. However, if there was enough support, I'm cerain that we could arrange something. If we all met up in Kent, it's pretty evident that we would all get separated at the Dartford Crossing anyway. First thoughts are that each would make their own way and meet at a pub/service station/eaterie quite close to the venue, then proceed to the event altogether from there. The question was, is anyone else in Kent interested?

Mick, I think it's more a case of "how many Kent region members read the forum" - based on my experience, I'd say not too many!

We can't make next month's monthly as we're leaving for Le Mans the next morning, maybe Pearl can put something on the forthcoming attractions board or has an eamil list to let folk know about this. OK, it's not R25 organised, but it looks like a good day out!
