iPod charging

Sorry if this is a really stupid question, if you leave your iPod plugged in when the ignition is off does it continue to charge?

I've left it few hours and it seems to continue charging, just wanted to make sure before leaving the car for a few days and forgetting to unplug it.

Thanks!

Just look at the iPod screen top right and see if you have a lightning symbol to indicate it is charging

The power sockets are always powered, that's how the trickle charger can work.
Indeed so, but I think we're talking about the iPod USB connection here?

Yes, it's a bit odd this. I just been out to look at mine. It appeared to not be charging from the USB/iPod sockets when I first got in and before I put the key in the ignition. Then it started charging when I put the key in. After I took the key out and let everything shut down it continued to charge! Maybe the sockets stay "live" for a period of time before shutting down? Either way I don't suppose it really matters that much - even if they stayed live all the time I hardly think the iPod will flatten the car battery!

Not always .The power point or cig lighter socket is not powered
When my Cayenne is switched off

Power feed might be driven a little like the radio / display which advises that "operation is only possible for a short time after engine off" or something like that.

Interesting question and personally I wouldn't trust leaving stuff plugged in particularly stuff with a battery, but I'm just paraniod.

Could be that. Mine always goes straight on the Ctek every time it goes to bed so no worries about iPod/safety camera adviser(!) etc draining the big battery.[:)]

Slightly off topic but I recall the service manager telling me that "stuff" is going on electrically up to an hour after you switch it off and lock it - other than the alarm. ECU type things - at least I think that's what he said - but in a rather more technical and professional way[:D]

This is just what happened to me and why I asked the question as I was concerned it wouldn't stop. But its been plugged in for a couple of weeks now without problem I think so I'm assuming it does stop, although I also presume that the iPod goes to sleep eventually when no music is being played.
