I have a CDR-23 head unit with a 6 disc CD changer in the front. I want to change this so I can connect my ipod, with the ipod located in the centre consol. It looks like Becker may make a compatible connection but I'm not sure. Has anyone done this? Is it easy enough to get the cable through?

Hi Mark it depends how much you want to spend and how easy you wan't to controll your ipod. I now have the becker grand prix, looks totaly factory and good controll for the ipod. I did use for a short while a solisto connection. It comes with connection lead for the ipod and it's long enough to reach the centre armrest. It also comes with a 3.5mm jack socket to connect other types of music players. It works through and replaces the multichanger. Basicaly you put together 6 playlists of upto 99 tracks per playlist and hey presto. It works well and it's a well put together piece of kit. It's sat next to my desk if your interested in making me an offer. Good luck with the upgrade.

The Becker Grand Prix is the way to go. Ipod connection and Bluetooth for phone. I think you may have to lose the cd changer though.

I can vouch for the Becker Grand Prix. I have one with a 110w amp in the boot, Infinity reference replacement speakers and a custom built shelf in the rear running to 6 x 9 Pioneer 3 ways with the mid and tweater gained out to give me just the bass. Sounds excellent. The iPod cable that you would get for the unit is fairly short though. This is my only criticism. I had to have my cable poking up through a small gap in front of the gear selector. However, this is quite handy to have the iPod in the cubby hole under the stereo. Originally I would have like to have hidden the iPod away in the centreconsole. The Becker unit is fantastic, you will never want to use a CD again. Besides, CD's jump to easily.
Mark - your CDR-23 has the MOST fibre-optics connecting head unit, amp, and CD changer, so I think you are somewhat limited in your options. Either rip the whole lot out and start again, or get an aftermarket device like the Dension Gateway, Mobridge, etc.
