anyone know where I can find a cost effective way of retrofitting the iPod interface into my cayman 's' ??? Can't find it on eBay !

Many thanks !!!

I've never seen it listed as something an OPC can retrofit. Failing an official solution, look at the Dension or MoBridge solutions (I have a Dension 500 in my 2004 Boxster) - but remember that they're not "allowed" under the Porsche warranty.

Have the same issue myself - although I just want an audio jack I have someone looking into this and he mentioned the dension but is also looking at a cheaper alternative ( thats not wireless ;) Will update when I have news

thanks guys I'm looking into the MoBridge ones - they look pretty good. I'd willingly go without the PCM module I was after then. I have a tomtom (!) And don't want to spend thousands on the pCM. I'd rather do other upgrades.. I'm thinking GT3 headers to go with my remap and filter. Will keep you posted on what I plump for and give it reviews. A 'jack' sounds good - at the mo I'm running an FM transmitter but it's not great - so much so I barely use it and put up with the single CD. Or just liswten to the engine

Same as that Both wireless devices I used were appallingly bad Let us know the outcome of the MoBridge

Porsche do an interface kit for the Cayman for the ipod if you us the link to open the catalogue and go to page 9/30/04 you will see a photo of it. http://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesandservice/porscheservice/originalparts/originalpartscatalogue/porschetequipment] but this may not be the most economical option. my other suggestion would be to talk to Mark at Cartronics in west byfleet.

Thanks for the link ( you need to remove the last text section ) This one proved interesting http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf/originalparts/en/E_987C_KATALOG.pdf Cant locate info on the audio module yet , but will keep looking

oooops sorry about that last ]. You will not find the reference in your link as technically it is not a part but an accessory and is, I think only listed in the Tequipment catalogue. cheers

Had a quote from an company in Bristol to fit the Dension 500 ( to get the audio jack, usb, ipod interface) on my 2007 Cayman £500 fitted - does this sound reasonable ? Ok let me rephrase I know it doesnt sound reasonable to pay £500 so I can plug my phone in and listen to music finally, but is is this the going rate ?

I have a US company offering me the unit for $475 including priority shipping ( trackable) which I reckon is about £300 Anyone else interested ? ( group buy)

Ok - Spoke to local audio company and they agreed £435 fitted Had an interesting day with them and the setup is almost complete Will post up some pictures after the weekend and some findings

All now working with the Dension 500 It took a couple 2 visits to the audio place to get it right , and I hope the following may help those who may be considering this also The unit was fitted on top of the CD changer to allow access to the cabling and the option to isolate the unit back to CD changer. Its been setup so that the CD changer is inoperable when the USB, AUX and IPOD cable are active. There is a switch from the RCA connection unit to turn this on and off in case in the future I wanted to use the CD changer. Apparently this is to be expected. I was suprised about this but it makes no difference ultimately , now I have the other options I am unlikely to be loading cd's anymore and my music collection is already converted to MP3 anyway. Personally I dont plan to use the IPOD adapter I cant stand apple's Itunes software so its unlikely that will be used and a reason why I did not get this extended into the car although I could still attach one when I open the bonnet and leave it inside and access it through a rather protracted menu using the stock cd24 stereo I really wanted the USB and aux within the car itself so it was cabled through the bulkhead , through the middle console and up into the glovebox under my elbow First use revealed some interferance during acceleration so I purchased some higher quality shielded audio cable , I also noticed they had routed the cabling around the right hand side of the battery so this was moved to the left hand side as per the picture and with the new cabling the interferance has gone and it sounds fantastic. I used a 3m active USB cable and 3m of shielded cable in addtion to what came with the kit. Note that with routing the cabling around to the left hand , there was just about enough to have the aux in the glovebox by my elbow with just enough room to use my phone so care should be taken to ensure enough cable is purchased. I know Dension supply an extender kit for about £40 and to be honest I probably spent that on the USB and Shielded audio cables from Maplins but heinsight is a wonderful thing. I still think I need another few inches within the car for the cable so will probably buy a small extender ( 10-20cm) Installation looked very straight forward however I am not an electrician so I appreciated the fact that if anything goes wrong or needs changing I can rely on the audio place to resolve/fix All in all £435 for the kit and fitting plus about another £40 on extender cables The sound as I mentioned is fantastic and I am glad I have had this done I was getting rather annoyed at having to wear headphones in the car ;) I checked on the Dension web site for another firware updates , however I was using the latest version All I need to do now is get used to using the CDR24 for accessing the music on the USB , its a bit primative using CD2 to select albums and then CD5 to select tracks , but I am getting used to it. Most of my usage will be through my Windows phone listening to audio books and music
