Have been looking for a while now for a unit that will control my Ipod from my Becker 4720, with no avail.
Found this site
www.solisto.de

who make dedicated units for nearly all VW Audi, Becker and Porsche original units

Comes with required cables and delivered via UPS = total cost for mine crica £100 (exactly the same price ive just pair for a proper VW one for my Golf) Ill let you know how it performs once it arrives

Just double checked and mine is the CDR32, i'd like to keep the original HU and have the ipod in the arm rest.

As anyone connected ipod to this HU and been able to use the HU to navigate through the ipod to change artist and tracks, if that makes sence.

Going a bit off topic, but I replaced my CDR22 with a Becker Grand Prix. Looks like an original part (rather than a Max Power flashing disco) and it supports CDR's with WMA / MP3 and bomb proof Bluetooth hands free AND it has an optionl iPod add on, which - although I don't have the iPod interface - have heard good reports about.

Cost is about 250GBP for the head unit and an a futher 60 - 80 GBP for the iPod add on.

To save me repeating, see my reply on PH (I'm PolarExpress)...

Has anyone used the Harman-Kardon i-drive (I think that is what is is called) add on? It plugs into the aux port (possibly into the CD changer port?) and you can use it to se your Ipod. It worked well in my old car.

edited to say, its actually called the "drive and play". Looks like this->

Now fitted !

delivery was a little delayed due to a software upgrade theyve done.

Ive also hardwired in my road angel into the 12v supply and fed the cable to the GPS antenna binickle in the middle of the dash (and finally put the gps antenna there )

had a little trouble fitting the control box in anywhere, its not that large about 3 x 2 x 1 but there just isnt any room anywhere - finally located it beneath the cubby hold in the centre console and fed the wires back up to the head unit and then along the console under it, to the rear box where the ipod sits.

Works fantastic! sounds great, the becker 4720 unit i have sounds great with it, and the display shows all the track and artist info from the ipod while its playing - controls are good also.

Only one slight problem, it doesnt work with my new 6th gen ipod, works fine with my old ipod, but this reading all the ipod forums is down to the ipod not the solisto box or the head unit - it appears nothing works properly with the 6th gen units yet due to apples software.

tried to take some photos when I was doing this on saturday but it was raining so gave up. Anyone wants anymore info please email me.

I would recommend this for either the becker or the Cdr22 units on price if nothing else and the quality of sound and control

Hi Jon not sure if i missed you again on Sat AM? My interest is mainly how quick you can navigate through the ipod and how easily? I've been slightly spoilt by my old Alpine unit and would appreciate your verdict of what it's like.

Many thanks Chris.
