IPOD In New Boxster

I need to up grade the tunes in my new Boxster and make the most of the Bose. Any ideas as to how I might connect an IPOD to the standard ICE? Still waiting for Porsche Reading to answer this one. I have trip the ITrip, an FM transmitter but the quality is well, FM! There is a product available in the States called a Neo iON (http://www.carplayer.com/) which claims to work with a 2004 Boxster but is the connection the same?

Any ideas would be gratefully received

Jason,

Do a quick search for iPod - you will find a couple of very good threads on this. (Don't resrict the search to the Boxster area though).I believe there is a product coming out from Denison(sp?) for the Optical-connection equiped cars such as the 987. Should do the job!

When i last checked, Dension didn't have an optical connection option. Therefore You'd be struggling to get a direct connection to the system in the new Boxster. This is why i'm still without any MP3 facility. They have been working on this though and eventually they are sure to have something. Hope it's by June/July though. My new one arrives in June.

I have a Dension system and to be honest gave up on it and have bought an Alpine system which is iPod ready, itis awesome!!!

You can see it here, took me 10 mins to fit. The extra box goes under the dash on the passenger side and have the iPod in the pocket behind the passenger seat.

Take a look at the following link...........

This is always an option but I don't like changing the idea of head unit, Autocar have a similar thing in a long term V6 Clio I think, they say its great.

Thanks for all the info. Its clear that the only sensible option for connecting an IPOD to a Bose equiped new Boxster is to wait for Dension to produce their MOST optical interface, which they tell me will be in the "second half of the year".

Get yourself an iTrip until then, is the best option. I use this for when I am in the company car.

I have my iPod wired up in my 924, using one of those dummy cassette things into the Sony cassette/radio, and using a Monster iCharger (very clever gadget), and a little mounting sleeve I made myself. The cassette thing is crude, but works remarkably well. My 968 had a Blaupunkt system with an auxiliary lead which ended in a mini-jack, which was perfect.

I see that BMW are already offering an iPod interface as a standard fit option, about time everyone else (and that includes you Porsche) followed suit.

Having gotten used to the sound quality and the sheer scope of music that the iPod offers, I shan't go back to using anything else. In fact, once someone comes up with a decent aftermarket interface, it would almost be worth buying a second iPod (perhaps a second hand older version) as a dedicated drive hardwired into the car and out of sight.
