iPod Interface Cable/Module

Hi all, long time no post.

Picked up a new Boxster S at the beginning of March and being cautious with ticking the option boxes when specifying the car to keep the cost down. Having left out the PCM (Porsche Communication Module) option I found that the built-in Aux connection jack for the iPod has very limited functions and with poor sound output.

Anyone knows are there any 3rd party/aftermarket cable/module available to hook-up iPods/MP3 players to the "˜standard' sound system? I had both Mrs yee's BMW and my Mini retro-fitted with OEM iPod module interface cables and both works a treat.

I had a quote from my local OPC to retro-fit the PCM but at a cost of over £5k, ouch!

I can understand the limited functions but the sound should be nearly the same as a CD....

Sounds ideal but is that unit compatible with the current model (2014)? Will take a closer look.

Cheers

Mobridge and Dension units will do the job but I suspect you may invalidate the warranty if you fit one. Some OPCs seem more concerned about the fitting of these type of units than others.

I think what the OP here is referring to is a problem I found by not ordering PCM but Aux input for the normal radio on my 2010 997, ie you only get a small round input socket not a USB type one . You get the USB one if you have ordered PCM as well.

Are you sticking it in far enough, seriously I found it needs a good hard shove ( sorry about the double meaning ! )

Thought of installing a Parrot?
I have one in my 986, MKi9000 which was professionally put in and it works fine. Come with ipod/USB/jack connectors and you can play everything through bluetooth from your phone.
Quality is pretty damn good as well

I'm sick of my none PCM 981 unit, i've been searching everywhere for a kit to allow proper IPOD connectivity so i don't have to keep controlling my IPOD rather than on screen :(
