iPod/iphone connection

Hi all,

I have recently purchased a Boxster on an 02 plate, and the stereo is a Porcshe CDR - 22, with a Becker Silverstone 6 Disc Changer 7860 in the front boot.

I was hoping someone has some knowledge of this particular stereo model, and tell me if its possible to purchase an auxillery cable to enable me to use my iPod and iPhone through the headunit.
I approached a car stereo specialists in my area, who fobbed me off and said I would require a whole new stereo. Is this really the case?

If it is possible, could you advise me how this is done, whether I can do the job myself and what I would require...

It's easy.

Disconnect the changer (you won't need it now) and run a 2xphono to mini-stereo jack from the changer connections in to the cabin. You'll need a 3M long cable, and probably a phono-to-phono double female adaptor to change the gender to match the cable.

Job done.

hi, tried the above fix, head unit does not recognise aux cable, so therefore can not switch from radio- cd using the sourse
button,

I remember you have to enable the input (I can't find the original Becker instructions but link should steer you in the right direction):

Whoops! The bit I forgot.... Apologies (it was late and I'd just got back from Germany [&:] )

On my CDR 22 I had no changer. I bought a cable on eBay which goes into the CD changer socket. Then an internet search found a sequence of buttons to set on the head unit to change it to aux in mode. The cable had Phone (line) connectors so a long 3.5mm to phono cable gives you line in. I then added a Harmon Kardon iPod controller unit. I may update this by changing the Harmon Kardon for a Bluetooth device that will connect to my iPhone and give line out, these are on eBay for about £30.
