iPod text through PCM?

I have read the various threads about PCM and iPod connectivity, thanks for the information guys. Based on this I have installed a Denison Gateway 500 in my 2007 997 to support iPod operation (iTouch). The sound quality and iTouch remote operation are fine. However text information does not appear to be supported by the PCM. It does not show artist, album, or track information, other than a number.
Does anyone have text functionality?
If so, what do I need to do?

Thanks in advance,

Ian.

It will work but you need a little patience. I had problems when I updated my Dension software and I posted a question to the Dension website.

You need to toggle the on/off switch on the Aux box , three times on and three times off. The head unit should be off and the ipod connected to the Dension unit. When you turn the head unit (PCM) back on and select CD/Changer you will see a config menu.

You need to select Track 5 . Then press the fast forward button on the PCM and hold it for at least 3 seconds but I would suggest holding for about 20 seconds. You will then get the titles of the songs when you select CD 5. Disc 2 is selectiopn by artists, Disc 3 by album .

The Dension instructions are not very good but with perseverence you will get the track titles but not the artists .

The ipod connection on my A5 is brilliant giving all the details you get on the stand alone ipod. I hope the new 997 has a similar setup.

For further help I would suggest visiting the Dension site.

regards

Jonathan

Jonathan,
thank you. I owe you a beer, or two. I now have full text through the PCM. It's great!

All,
the Denison unit will fit behind the CD changer. Two spacer washers are required to move the passenger side CD mounting out by about 3mm. This does not affect the CD changer plastic casing, which still fits fine. The Gateway 500 Aux/Selector unit fits on the side of the CD changer, the changer casing vent has been cut away to give access to it. See attached picture.

Or if you don't want to do the hokey cokey, I suggest you get a mObridge which displays everything it is supposed to (ie, artists, tracks, playlists, etc) straight out of the box. [;)]

Adrien, would you be prepared to do us an easy to read comparison list of the various units available for the Porsche range including the 997 ?

I'm sure many members would be interested in a fair comparison and the chance to read what is on offer... whether for the forum or an article in the 997 Porsche post section.
