iPOD

If you've got the CDR-23 with fibre-optic (MOST) bus working in the background then you've no other options. This is on all MY03 onwards cars.

Note - the item scouser points to above will not work on MY03 onwards.

Thanks. So do I have to have a new radio installed?

I can't believe that I am the only 2003 Porsche owner who owns an iPod

Tom

You're not - but apart from FM modulators there's no way to get this to work - except ripping out the whole system.

It's nice to be Porsche guinea pigs isn't it [;)]

I too have this desire to listen to the ipod. The FM modulators are not exactly kosher in the UK I believe but are available from US websites

[FONT=Trebuchet MS"]The iTrip sounds good enough in the car. Hell you need to give it more right wellie then the exhaust note fills the gaps. The loss of sound quality is more than made for in the convenience of being able to play it through any car radio. So if you've got more than one car it makes life eezee.[;)]

Best buy iPod and iTrip in the USA (helps if you know someone who goes over there regularly) although prices have started to fall here and the Virgin Megastore was selling the 20gb version at quite a good price up at Bluewater recently.

20gb is enough for most people although 40gb version isn't much more mahunny.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Are you using the auxillary input socket on the back of the unit? If so you may need to turn on the 'auxillary' mode - unfortunately I can't remember exactly how you do this! I think you hold down the 'TP' button which gives you access to a 'hidden' menu; you then have then option to turn 'AUX' on or off, possibly selected by using the volume control.
Sorry this is a bit vague but it might point you in the right direction,
Steve

Thanks Steve,
It worked a treat. No mention of that procedure in the Becker/Porsche manual.
The Dension icelink plus seems to be fairly basic though as once it is connected I have no control on the head unit or the ipod so an album/songs have to be selected before connection. Also the volume appears to be limited.
Thanks again.
Paul
