Ireland: This is what is going on

The only thing i would say is this. Although there are loads of decent folk who use the net , it is also a well known magnet for brainless drongos
Laugh out loud and think how lucky you are not To be one of them and save some stress

Quite a funny board as it goes. Lol

Well, having said that, if you were to put the two-litre 177 bhp / 258 lb.ft diesel engine from my BMW into a 924, it would not half make it shift.
The current 320D with that engine is a lot heavier than a 944 Lux and yet still has pretty much the same acceleration, about 0-100 in 21 seconds. So in a much lighter car than the BMW, it would deliver some real performance.

Donal, I had almost forgotten the obsession the Irish have with MB. My Dad used to joke about it, in the old days all the subcontractors and builders wanted to get one because once you had an MB you had 'arrived' [:D]. For this reason he always said he wouldn't have one but secretly I think he would like nothing more than to tootle about in a old MB diesel auto.

Sadly lots of ppl over here have MB blinkers, I had an odd discussion on a train several years back with this old lady, really nice woman, posh, loads of money but no car knowledge = typical MB buyer. She was bemoaning the new A class not being as compact as the old one which she loved [&o]. I recommended the Audi A2 which at the time was not only sub zero urban cool but technologically advanced in a way the A class could only dream about. Needless to say she dismissed that idea as in her own words an Audi has 'no class' [&o].

I would not call it delicate, but yours is certainly of a sensitive persuasion... blushes a nice pink colour when it notices people looking at it [;)]

At the Classic at the NEC an Irishman came over to the Club stand and after a chat about various Porsches he showed me pictures of a 1930's Merc saloon (220 I think) that he had been left recently having been stored in a barn for 40 odd years which he was very proud of and was looking to restore himself - seems the Irish have had a love affair with them for many years!
Really made my day!

Having read the board, I can't see why any one would want to sneer at it. It's just a bunch of enthusiasts talking about a car they clearly love as much as we do but having their own cultural take on it.

More shame on the sneerers I would say.

Happy Christmas!
