Is a porsche not a porsche if it doesn't have its badge?

Is my Porsche not a Porsche if it hasn't got a bonnet badge?

Not an esoteric theoretical or philosophical question and its not been stolen by some Burberry wearing scrote! No, its all my fault. I was servicing my mountain bike on its bike stand in the garage and I must have been a bit aggressive as the bike stand fell over taking the bike withit onto the front of the car. Wow I thought, not a scratch. Phew. So I carried on with what I was doing. Some while later I noticed something on the ground. Yes it was my badge which obviously took the full force of the bike, lucky in a way.

Unfortunately, its sheered the pins off, so do I have to fit a new one or can I get my 28 year old one fixed somehow and if I do have to fit a new one how do I fit a new one?

Maybe you could bond some pins onto the back of the original badge, on the other hand if you fit a new badge it will probably be different to the original as they change them now and then.
 
New ones aren't silly money from memory and they're just push fit in to the holes on the front panel - no problem[;)]
 
Very lucky. They will all fit, MIT need 2 bend the pins slightly, Iv got a nearly new one, if your interested pm. It's gold script type, right one 4 a 944 but later modles still fit, if you like them more. The badge pins push in 2 magnet grommets on the back side off the pannle, u may need 2 remove the pannle and push what's left out.
 
Is the badge damaged ? yes buy a new one from Porsche or even a second hand one from breaker ( Suzleruk , Elliot ) no put a dodd of sikaflex on the back of it and stick it back on. end of discussion [:)][:)]
 
watch where you buy one from, I bought a cheap(er) one and it was rubbish, sent it back and got one from local Porsche dealer, not cheap but worth it. Second hand might be best, or just stick back on, as said above.
 
A fortunate accident in my book; I've seriously considered removing the Porsche branding from my S2 entirely. (Mainly because I hate branding of all forms, and remove it from pretty much everything I own). Reason I haven't? Because I fear it would make the car stand out even more without any badges. Ironic, huh? Oli.

Is a tad ironic Oli! Do you turn carrier bags inside out like my Dad does?
 
I've seriously considered removing the Porsche branding from my S2 entirely.
I've got this dilemma at the moment, as it's going in to have the bodywork and paint attended to next month. I'd not lose the front badge, but the platic sill trims, rear Porsche script and S2 badge are all up for discussion. I think I'll look at it when it's painted and decide. I really like the detailing of the amber side repeaters and lenses, and the colour in the bonnet badge and centre caps, on any monochrome black, white or grey/silver 944. I think the back could look a little bare without the badge and script as well. [8|]

I only have the badge on the front. No other badges or numbers any where else on the car.I prefer a car with no badges but that's just me.We all know it's a Porsche you don't have to have it written all over the car. We've all seen the Corsa with CORSA 16V TWIN-CAM GTI TURBO V6 INJECTION INTERCOOLED on the side.
 
Plain rear looks much nicer, and the rubber delted off the rear bumper as well, u could get a 2nd radar bumper 2 use and get your own painted as well, then u got a spear should anything happen or u feel u want the rubber on again.

No, because we have a collection of long-lasting bags which get re-used. (Enviro-friendly as well as saving money now that supermarkets charge for their bags.) It's a good idea tho'! Oli.

I have to say that S2's and turbo's look entirely wrong without the mouldings on the wings and sills. Yes we all know they get blamed for corrosion but that can be avoided by proper cleaning and even taking them off once a year for a good clean up. And as far as badging on the rear goes i'm not fussed. However every time i see "turbo" under my spoiler I smile. It just says "don't even bother trying buddy" to other road users as far as I'm concerned! Just my tuppence worth. Stuart

I will have a look, but I dont think that I do. Ed H. may have one and I believe that he disagrees with me and thinks that the cars look perfectly alright without. His car is lower on tasty suspension though... Simon
 
That picture helps Dave. You can see the mounting visible around the door shut / B pillar area. The higher the car the more pronounced it appears to be.
 
My 8cm low access trolley jack fits in with about 1 cm to spare, I don't think it'd fit at all with the trims in place.
 
Thanks. As my car is on the original ride-height, as in useable as an off-roader, I don't know if it will look terrible. At least I have the option to leave it, and see how it looks before making a decision. I'm not sure the visible mounting worries me too much, though. The early 944s had the spare wheel well visible at the back unless you paid for a toast-rack valance to hide it, but it wasn't the end of the world if you had that open, exposed rear end. [8|]
