is anyone having trouble

became a father in January and second is expected next March so my BMW M Coupe has to go. (only two seats)

searched and searched and found a 944 lux with 77k original miles that has been garaged for last 17 years virtually by previous owner. (very happy)

trouble is I can't sell my M Coupe even when lowered price considerably. Not even a sniff and its as good as they come. many others priced higher so thats not the issue I feel.

begining to think I may have to pass on the Porsche thinking it may be easier to get rid off.

anyone else having trouble selling similar priced vehicles?

I only want 13.5K but it seems as though this credit crunch really is taking it's toll.

Your not the only one struggling. Pretty much everyone I know trying to sell a car at the moment is. And it isn't a recent thing as some of them have been trying to sell their cars since long before the credit crunch, so I don't think that is having an effect.

Personally I think that because credit is so cheap these days and he dealerships structure credit in different ways (like baloon structures) people are simply buying new cars and the used car market is saturated.. It's definately a buyers market out there. You can't even sell your car for the Glass's guide trade price. The best way to get rid of your car is to write it off. My brother-in-law has just had a prang in his car and the repair bill is more than the cars value so it's been written off. The insurance company has just paid out the glass's guide price which was far more than the trade in offers he was getting before the crash (he was going to sell the car anyway). So he's made up.

Where are you based? I have been toying with the idea of consolidating my BMW (also silver with red) and 944 into one car, as I'm not really using either at the moment and an M car seems like a likely candidate. It pains me to get the train to work, but that's where the work is[].

Having said that the 944 is having its legs stretched tomorrow at Bedford Autodrome - can't wait.

Yes, trying to sell other halfs mk2 MR2. Not quite in the same price league but that I would hope it being cheaper it should shift but it hasn't. It was on Used Car Roadshow recently as their example of free motoring! Ha! What a laugh... I paid 2,400 for it in June last year and now nobody is biting even at 1,250.....

it was the same the last recession. Everybody has got the fear of god in them that they might lose their home or job etc .
We have probably all curbed our spending lately. Put off buying stuff .

Everyone is trying to make out it will be ok but all the signs are there.

The end of the world is nigh

I'm based in the rural swaledale region near Richmond Scotch Corner so trains and busses are an absolute joke. Mr Brown likes to add cost to the ownership of cars everytime there is a budget but how he expects me to get to work without one is what I would like to know.

As for green taxes. I'm all for the earth but when China and the US are pumping it out like it's nobodys business anyway, what we do won't change a thing. I'd much rather the money in my pocket for the short time we walk this planet.
Anyhow, looks like I may have to put a cover over them till things are better.
good luck to everyone else in their sales.

have you thought about trading it privately through enbay or local papers etc ? at least you'll get the equivalent value and the vehicle you want. Just a thought

I thought id get a valuation from that company on line for my very good condition, full history, 3 previous owners 190 2.6. They offered me £225[:D] They then kept ringing my mobile over and over until i finally answered(i was driving at the time and had to pull off the motorway to answer as i thought someone had died or something they where that insistant[]) I told the poor girl on the other end of the line where to get off!!

Who are they and what the hell do they do with the cars is what i want to know. Do they then sell them on to dealers at a mark up? Or break the realy rough cars? If they realy do buy any car they must have lots and lots of scrap cars sitting around!!

Ah, you see I didn't actually put my real mobile number down....

So some poor devil is now being mithered about selling a 944 turbo that he doesn't own, sorry about that...[;)]

blo*dy idgits I hate companies that do that. I lost my job once though exactly that. I complained in strong terms to the stupid girl who kept phoning me and she reported me to her boss who had a `nice chat 'with my boss who promply gave me a months notice![]

I reckon they must be breaking some of them for spares and selling the scrap.
Scrap metal prices have shot through the roof lately. The car crusher opposite my office is crushing them from 8am to 6pm every day without a break and there is a steady of stream of cars coming in and a flow of huge open topped container lorries out.

I reckon there might be more precious metals in cars than we realise .What else could they be doing with them ?

Offered £455 for my S with Full history 12mths Tax and 12 Mths MOT!
I also gave them a Wrong number!

Possibly a bit late for Swright but I never EVER enter a valid phone number or email address when filling in online forms []

I imagine it's a site designed for modern mainstream cars where a simple spreadsheet with mileage and age etc can work out a reasonably accurate value (and then deduct some [;)]). These type of things really don't work for older 'specialist' cars.

I wonder what the value would be for a 1973 RS :ROFLMAO:

I think the value of scrap steel will be something to do with this - I read about someone getting more for their old banger from a scrapyard than from a potenial buyer!

Funny how things change as not so long ago you had to pay the scapyard to take your car due to the recycling costs....[8|]
