Is it ever going to stop raining

I know the car is not going to melt like butter but,

Grrrr, is it ever going to stop raining this summer !

Last run was to Oulton Park last month, not been out since.

BTW, on the last service they noticed that a small 'bleed pipe' has broken off the brake fluid reservoir.

Any ideas what this is for ?,

Going to try to plastic weld it back on, but I suppose a new one will be required to fix it.
 
I think its the riser from the moulding process and is just crimped at end. We had this happen on sons 924 turbo tried all sorts to seal all eventually attacked by fluid. We bought good secondhand one off ebay (any of traders will have them), then get two new seals and it just pushes on[:)]

I'm pretty sure the "bleed pipe" is the overflow in case you overfill the reservoir, it was broken on mine, a '88 3.2, I repaired it with a small length of brass tube (from a model shop) which I glued into the reservoir top then connected this to the small thin white tube which runs across the rear of the luggage compartment and then along the wing into the area in front of the battery.

We went to C.L.M & Silverstone the roof came off both times you will have to get your car out more often[:D]
 
One of the things i REALLY like is monsoon like conditions when driving a porsche 911. I want my 911 on michelins to challenge me, to push me, to allow me to cool down and tie-ing the line and to give me a good workout whilst ....commuting. Best stress relieve I've ever had.

If you come out of such a drive, you feel alive. You probably are alive as well, considering you didnt aquaplane against a tree ;)

The 3.2 is more silent and less raw in comparison to a stripped and lighter weighted carrera 3.0 but nonetheless, what an incredible and consistently capable machine in those conditions.

Found the pipe rolled up under the carpet, Looks like its been broken for some time. Might try the brass bit, should stablise the joint.

Not keen to learn the wet handling characteristics, until I know the dry one's. This car is taking longer than most to fully get to grips with. The fact that I could not bear it to get damaged also means I tend to take it easier than all the others.

Big fun though.
 
I suppose it is a case of learning how to drive your 911 in a safe environment. I did the porsche sport school at D'ieteren Porsche quite a few years ago. I was also afraid of damaging my car but once we explored -my- limits, which were considerably lower than -my car's- limits, it became a joy to drive it and learn in the process. The training was provided using cars from the importer themselves and for me they got a 3.2 carrera on slicks out. Did do a 993 Rs as well. Then I took my rusty nail of an ickle 911 2.7....I was 26 years old then and couldnt care less what people thought. Instructor was patient and passionate about getting me better behind the wheel/get the testosterone under control [:D][:D]

Best couple of hundred quit I spend, ever.

Personally I don't mind the rain, my car is in storage whilst a new garage is built so I can't drive it any way. So at least I am not crying because of all the drive time I am missing.
 
Don't these cars have windscreen wipers? They deal with the rain don't they? Some even have them on the rear window!
 
Not that I don't like driving in the rain. Want to look after this car and make it last another 20 years. Realise I need another 3.2 or SC as a knock about car :)
