Is it worth creating an FAQ

Just a thought, wondered if it would be worth creating a allinone FAQ with things like:-
A community written buyers guide and link to thread.
POrsche 944 specs, performance figures etc. and links to good sites
Maintanence and Serviceing FAQ's e..g. cam and timming belt information
List of the various option packs and there codes
Model History
etc etc.

WHats your thoughts?

A few of the other Registers have done it and we've thought about doing it for the 944 Register for quite a while but it's finding someone with the time to do it. Paul, John and I all run our own small businesses and I think we've all run away very quickly whenever anyone mentions it [:D]

It is something that is needed at the top of the forum to answer all those repetitive questions we get every few months, especially as our database is now getting so big the search function is struggling to cope.

yes I reckon it would be a good idea and I'd spend some time helping to put it together if the site's owners agree to it.Even if it is just an index of links to other sites
Nice link by the way. I've never come across it before.

There will be plenty of room for things like this when the Club's new website is up and running. There is already a FAQ section, but it's not been built as there's no point on the old site. Also, the facility to add member's pictures etc.

This would be a members benefit, but then it's important that there is a balance between the areas accessible to non- or ex-members.

That, of course, is a whole different question...[8|]

so do I take it that non-members will not have access to this information although contributing to it yes ?

Sorry - this thread is off topic already!

In a word, no. Non-members won't have access to put info on - it's the Club's website for Club members. I'd not expect anyone would think that unfair!!

I'd assume that at least some of it will be available as read-only, as a shopfront for the 944 Register as an important part of the Club. Something the current website fails miserably to do.

This forum will continue to be free to all, I'd defend that to the death. Well - at least to mild injury....[:D][:D]

I'd appreciate other opinions, but personally I think there is a good balance of the Club benefits that are members-only. There are also a lot of events, this forum and other things that are available to non-members freely, but please remember they are paid for by the members, and largely organised by the Club volunteers!
