Is there an East London 944 club?

Hi everybody
Just wondered if there is an East London club, had my 83 black 944lux for 2 and half years (love it so much) (A699 TCR the guy I bought it off was great and was in this club), but I stupidly lost my license last year for 12months but......I'm back now and in the 944 groove again, would love to meet other owners especially any body who would be interested in going down to the south of France in October or November this year

cheers Paul

Hi Paul,
One of the more regular meets (apart from normal club meets) is at the Ace cafe (ok it's not quite in East London) on the last Wednesday of the month, there's a good crowd there and it's always entertaining, so worth popping along if you're able.

There is the Porsche Club GB and I run the London region of it and we meet at Fatboys Diner every 3rd Saturday of the month for a lunch meet.
See details here: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/london

You just missed one which was on last Saturday. Unfortunately we will not have one in October as most of us are going to France for a weekend trip, see below link.

You can joined the club via this link:
http://www.porscheclubgb.com/JoinPCGB.aspx or just ring the club house on 01608 652911, 0830-1700 Mon-Fri.

As mentioned, here are the details of our weekend trip to France in October; not quite south of France though:

All the best,

thanks a lot for the info I'll definetly come along, want to meet more like minded owners I did read about the France trip as I read it before I signed up,(plus I speak very good frog lingo!!) but may be a bit sudden for me so I think I'll solo it down to Avignon (I have friends there) and spend a few days. Never taken my lux abroad before so any tips would be apreciated I know that its 700 miles one way so if you have any ideas on essential spares, pre set off checks blah blah blah I would appreciate it

thanks
Paul

Welcome Paul - I'm glad you are back on the road again. We had a pre christmas meet at a Chinese restaurant in the docklands a few years ago and it was pretty well attended, but if you can make it round to the Ace there are always several 944 owners loitering around.

Feel free to post pictures of your car, we are suckers for any 944 footage [:)]

Was the restaurant Yi-Ban? Opposite the London city airport? Great place and food... let me know if you want to do a joint pre-xmas meal again for this year as I am looking at ideas for an east London meal (we usually end up at a curry house near Brick land) and if people can refrain from the amber nectar [:)] we can then go for a midnight tunnel run in East London...

Monthly Meets:
2nd Wed, Rose of York (TW10 6UY)
3rd Sat, Fatboy's Diner (E14 OJW)
Last Wed, Ace Cafe (NW10 7UD)

Can you give times of these meets - when I finally get LIL on the road - I'd like to pop along and say hello.

Hear, hear [:)] The view across the dock to London City Airport was quite surreal in the dark too.

My chair had a wobbly leg though.

Good thread ... as an East End boy I'd be interested in any East End meetings, and didn't know that there was a regular meet at Fatboys Diner on a monthly basis. I'll have to trip down there sometime ...

We could do another Yi Ban social this Christmas too. Who'd be up for it? (The first one was good, but the last time I tried to organise a repeat event there was just about no interest whatsoever.)

Oli.

I'd be up for it, but of course I won't be following through and actually attending unfortunately.

I would come, but I know what it would be like trying to get a taxi to take me saaaarf of the equator after it.

Just think of the fare .... :yikes:

Mind you, I suspect you spent more than your fair share of time in the local hotels around that area. You could spend the night and return the following morning ... (indeed, you'd be welcome to our spare room if need be. We're less than 5 miles away ... don't say I don't think of you!)

Oli.
