Friday 11th 11.00am allocated time slot at OPC to collect my new 987"S" and a bonding afternoon off work booked to add to the New Porsche Car Experience

10.30am dealer calls to say there is a problem [] and can we put everything on hold for a few hours!! Well time ticks away real slowly, 2pm afternoon off cancelled [:(]and at the end of the day I am having to get a lift home whilst my new 987 remains at OPC still sick!

Am I the first here to experience this experience or have others had there mission aborted at the last minute literally :ROFLMAO:

The problem isn't major and I could have taken the car and returned it to dealer when they know the cure but I figured why should I take delivery of a brand new car thats awaiting medical treatement as and when a fix is known [&o]

The illness was alarm system not working at all! Several hours later the alarm is fully functioning again but the alarm LED wouldn't kick in and apparently PCGB Technical are awaiting further advice from the HQ on what to do next. Well thats the situation according to the dealer.

MONDAY 14th dealer now tells me they are going to change alarm brain tomorrow and hopefully we will have all systems go [&o]

Back in March 1994, I went to collect my brand new 993. Day off work, train + taxi to the dealership, full of anticipation etc.

Unfortunately, when I got there it became apparent that 'sales' had not notified 'service' and the car was still in storage, not pdi'd, cleaned or prep'd.

Lots of embarrassed apologies, the use of a 928GTS for a day and £250 of Porsche Selection items eased the disappointment.

God, i'd be gutted had I been in your position. I know you do get your car eventually but it would take off a bit of the gloss and anticipation for me personally.

Feel for you!

[:(]

Nightmare! Pity but it'll be worth it in the end - looking forward to hearing your views when you do get it though.

Mate of mine picked up his spanking new Beemer 325 Cabrio a couple of years ago and it had the wrong colour hood! He waited for a couple of hours and the dealer replaced it on site. While it was being done, he noticed his car had the more expensive wheel upgrade than the one he'd ordered so he kept schtum about that as he had about 2 grands worth of free kit!

Not a good start, but at leat its not sat in the showroom with a dent in it like mine was - didn't even offer me a courtesy car to get home. Not what you expect !

Andrew thanX. Made a big mistake of visiting car on Sunday to do all the paperwork, collect the handbook, and be given an induction on whats what in a working car of course  but seeing ones brand new car in bits, seat out wires and screws all over the floor etc plus car hadn't been prepped at all so is absolutely filthy, well you can guess how that felt to an ex concours winner [] If all goes well tomorrow it will be prepped Wednesday then shall collect end of week when weather maybe dry again :ROFLMAO:

Robert

You are just working off a little bit of bad karma!

It will be that little bit sweeter on Wednesday.

JCB..

I still smile when I remember collecting my C4S Cab.

It had clearly been in the showroom for a while before delivery, with punters having a look - PCM on, PCM off, hood up, hood down, PCM on ... etc etc.

Anyway, after an hour or two showing me all the buttons and switching everything on and off a few times, the time came for me to start her up (2nd time that day) to drive her out. Turn key ... hear funny noise ... but no engine sound.

Several very embarassed OPC staff gathered around to swap the battery for one that worked!
