Is this for real - or is there something hookey???

In my brief moment of madness when I was contemplating selling my 964 in favour of a Turbo 3.6 I had seriously considered this one. I didn't go as far as traipsing up to Yorkshire to look at it but I did chat to the seller a couple of times and it seemed good enough to at least have a first look. Since then - a week or so ago - the price has been reduced by £2000 and, on the face of it, looks to be a steal compared to some of the prices of others lately.

Is there something obviously wrong with this car that the seller is not telling?? Has anybody looked at it. Personally I'm not going to persue it - I've decided to keep the 964 - but if anyone else is interested, some more information might be helpful.

Regards

Dave

IMHO, that's about right for a 3.6 (with a highish) mileage in an unpopular colour (i.e not silver, blue or black). It's been for sale for a month or so. He's also selling a LHD 3.6 look-a-like (it's really a 3.3) apparently he's thinning out his collection. The owner's son is a regular on Pistonheads (his father also seems to own a Murcielago) and seems to be genuine enough, so no reason to think there's anything wrong with this car.

You were right not to go and see it, as the extra 100 horses would have surely tempted you and as your not one to shy away from non std colours............

I thought the £35k price was good, the revised one is getting in to the bargain area. If the car checks out okay both mechanically and bodywise and is as good as it looks in the photos then anyone on a limited annual mileage wanting a non depreciating asset then this is one of those cars.

I'm also surprised that the car is less than £35k, even with the mileage but it is a private sale and he may only have been offered that by a dealer who wants a margin.

Whilst not a common colour, it looks great - Pete S had something similar with the 993tt he had. Perhaps its due a big service?

Not sure there ever was a 400bhp "factory" upgrade, unless a one-off???

If the car has X88 on the options list then it has the turbo S motor and is a bargain deal for someone, assuming a thorough PPI.reveals no issues. I think
Amazon Green is a great colour.

If this is where I think it is, it's just outside of York. I went to see a silver 3.3 964 Turbo advertised there a while ago (someone on here owned it previously)... it was accident damaged and the son was supposedly running around in it... it was really scratty though - much to the dissapointment of the chap on here who used to own it before being paid out by the insurance co.

However, that may have absolutely no bearing on this car. The only thing I can say about this is that is priced a little too cheaply for a 3.6, IMO - I wouldn't have thought it would sit around too long, being a UK 3.6 model.

By some coincidence I have a copy of the VIL from that exact car - kindly e-mailed to me by the vendor. I see no X88 I'm afraid.

i keep looking at the black one he has but not sure if its worth the £22000 asking price especially as northways have one at £18999 decisions decisions !
theres a 3.3 black rhd on autotrader near me for £23000 was going to look at that until it showed as cat d write off 2006 and cat c write off 2004 but no mention of that in the garage ad! puts you off searching for a car! im thinking of moving to newer 996 kettle instead...

Interesting - so it's not got a factory 400bhp upgrade and has had 7 owners not 4...perhaps that's why it isn't selling...

car may have only 4 real owners, a garage may have taxed it in their name and an owner may have swopped log book into wifes name for cheaper insurance etc etc
