since the weather dropped in temp a bit, i now get smoke on start up !!! its a clear white smoke...was just wondering if this is normal and OK!!!! or..........????

Condensation is fairly normal, most cars do it when the air is cold. White smoke (unburnt oil) isn't normal but isn't really affected by the weather.

If you are not sure whether it's smoke or steam hold a tissue or something over the exhaust & look for black oil droplets, smell it to see if it's oil, petrol or water etc.

As the ambient temperature drops and the air gets damper you will also start to notice lots of oily mayonnaise in the oil filler and also on the dipstick. This is totally normal at this time of year on a 944 and will be worse on a car that does lots of short journeys and never gets the engine fully heated through.

Yes it's also a sign of a head gasket failure [8|] so expect to see lots of posts about this in the next few months.

i have looked this morning and theres no smoke on start up just after 1 or 2 minutes when the engine warms up in nuetral....what do you think ?? perfectly normal !!

Just sounds like normal steam/condensation to me. All cars do it. And when it gets frosty it'll be around for ages. Don't worry fella. Mind you, I'm not liable if something goes pop.
