Is this the time to buy new

With all the doom and gloom in out there is this maybe the time to buy new? I suspect that although there may be a glut of recent 997's over the next year or two sales of new cars will be down. When the upturn inthe economy comes there will be a shortage of recent second hand cars and depreciation on cars bought in the next few months will be less.

Am I deluding myself or trying to talk myself into a new car. Are there any views out there.

Why not address your question to Alaistair Darling and Gordon Brown? Whatever they say, do the opposite [:D].

Seriously, it is virtually impossible to predict how sales of new and second-hand cars will go, especially after the proposed and likely changes to road tax and the likely fuel and fuel tax increases. It seems that it is a buyer's market and dealers will haggle to get sales.

Words of insanity !

If you want it, buy it. Just know that there is really no justification in the current economic climate. Happy shopping !

Agree with mohitos, there is no possible financial justification for buying a Porsche (new or s/h) at any time, so why worry about the state of the economy in the decision?[8|][:D][:D]

Looks like you want some rational argument in support of buying new now , the scenario you suggest of cars bought now being in demand when economy picks up ( because of short supply) is not very rational IMHO. I assume you will be trying to trade in or sell your existing 997 as part of going to a new one , now that is likely to be a good demonstration of laws of supply ( plenty available) and demand ( pretty weak) ....which is going to be hard to counter on any future upgrade of the car you get now. I'll be at Silverstone on 14th trying the new toys so wont be able to chat directly as you are on a different day I think [;)]
