looking at a 944s2 tomorrow but it is in white

personally i don't mind white but i have read that it should be avoided

just thought i would ask your views on whether it is a 'no no', or well cool

thanks

If you like white then go for it, a lot of people go on about white cars being more difficult to sell because it's not a very popular colour at the moment, but it was all the rage in the early 90's, so there are a lot of them about. Personally I'd say check the condition first, then worry about the colour. The main thing on a 14+ year old car is going to be condition, so check everything works, make sure it's got a good history and drives like it should. Worry about the colour after that. If it's a goon un and you want to go for it, you might be able to drive the price down anyway!

S2's do look good in white, if a little more period than some of the metallic colours, but it's a good thing IMO, just makes you remember your driving a vintage Porsche[:D]

I quite like white (especilly well waxed) and its a lot cooler than black in the summer, people will always want to pay less for it though as its got a reputation now.

Guards Red used to be the colour in the 80s, then it became SO not cool, now it is back in fashion.

Get the car you like, in the colour you like, and enjoy.
Deal with the resale value as and when (you may like it so much, you keep it forever !).

White -best colour out (see left! ;) ), and the German national racing colour.

Difficult to sell, load of b*ll*cks...........was told the same in '94 when I had a '90 944 S2 in white -had no trouble shifting that.

And strangely, white doesn't seem to show the dirt as much as a dark colour.

I'd go with that Melv White ROCKS!! Get some nice Cup 1's done in blue or red and Get that GT3RS look!!!

I saw a Polished up 968 in white with white wheels and it looked fantasic. Classic Porsche kinda colour.
Porsches look good in white were other cars look terrible. At least stone chips, oxidization, scratches and grazes won't show up

Not a huge fan of white generally but recently saw a S2 polished up in white and it looked a beauty

I sold a lovely 944S2 in white to a lady near Preston. It was gleaming after it was all cleaned up with Zymol. I know she now needs to sell it so if it is the same one, snap it up.

Colour shouldn't matter.
If it's a 14yr old daily driver, just go enjoy driving it.
You can't see the colour from the driving seat anyway!

And strangely, white doesn't seem to show the dirt as much as a dark colour.

I go along with Mel on that. My white Lux didn't look dirty untill is was washed, and only then did it become obvious how dirty is was. My black Turbo looks dirty even after it has been washed.

White doesn't show dings and small dents either.

The only down side I can see is that the panel shut lines look more obvious, and thus wider, on a white car and any rust stands out like a sore thumb. The latter point can also be taken as a plus as no rust can be allowed to fester un-noticed.

I would be more concerned with the condition and history of the car than its colour, I personally think they look great in white, the colour seems to suit the car and hides dirt and marks better than some as mentioned above. If it is a good one and you like it, then go for it and enjoy[;)]

Obviously ever so slightly biased, but white with red script / wheels is THE colour scheme for 2 of THE classic 911's of all time.

Allan that white S2 you sold may well have been the one I have seen in Preston and it still looks great - quite likely infact as Ive only ever seen 2 others in Preston - people of Preston seem to prefer Saxo Vtr's and Evo's [8D] dam fine car if its the same says a lot about Zymol.

All White and looks great.
