When our late 1985 car went for its MoT recently, I was told that we could get pulled over by the police because the front number plate is not as close to vertical as it could be. This was recorded as an advisory on the test certificate.
As far as I am aware, the mounting brackets at the front are the originals, and the number plate is angled so that it is roughly tangential to the bodywork under the front bumper.
Has anyone else had this mentioned at the MoT for their car? Is it simply a case of bending the brackets to make the number plate more vertical, or is an alternative mount needed to prevent falling foul of the law?
