Thought Id take advantage of a late start and some nice weather and go a spin... turned the key in the ignition, All the lights came on and then I made teh final turn on the key to start her up and.... Nothing!!!
I tried it again and then nothing again. Checke the condition of the battery, all Ok and then called the RAC
The nice RAC man that came out suggested that it might be a problem with the ignition switch. He managed to start it once, by retrying it again and again, but then it stopped again.

Anyone else had this? HELP!

Hi there,

My dads just had a 944 and had exactly the same problem... he replaced the alternator and the battery and it starts a treat now!

You say that your battery is fine but it might not be holding the full charge? Or could be the alternator? Im sure someone will know.

Battery is practically brand new...
I did think Altenator but the RAC man said that the problem was "before" the alternator and starter motor. When I turn the key I dont even get a "click"

I have ordered a new switch all I need to do now is find out how to change it..!

Sorry i couldn't be of help but i hope that will solve your problem.

Good Luck with changing it [8D]

Mine did this twice over a 3 day period in the Summer. The first time it eventually started but the second time was in the car park at work and it just refused to start so I called the AA. It was the connections on the starter motor and it was fine after a clean-up and refit so cost nothing. I had a 6 week old battery at the time too.

Actually it then made me pay attention to the starting for a while and I decided the motor was getting lazy so it ended up costing me a reconned starter motor.[8|]

Yep thats the place, not that easy to get to, but once you're there it's doddle to remove, just two bolts, unclip the wires and it's off!
