Re: my previous post, above, I was able to obtain the gears for my speedo and repair it for less than £30. The instructions are accurate and easy to follow. I feel I took my time and was quite careful and it took around 40 mintes to get everything apart and a similair time to get everything back together again. Jeff Caplan was very helpful on the phone, though he took a little while to answer e-mails.
The little cog was a bit soft but still serviceable, the larger one was completely destroyed. Jeff suggested I blew out the mechanism with an airline to make sure all the little bits had come out,as these could easily jam things up later. I used a visual inspection and a big lungfull of air which seemed to work well.
Everything working fine now.
The moderator may remove this paragraph, and I'll understand if he does. I don't intend to tell you how to do it, but it is very easy to 'adjust' the mileage either backwards or forwards. I clicked mine on a few miles to make sure the numbers were rolling over properly.
Now...whats left....still a small oil leak and the right turn indicator has become intermittent again. I'll probably leave these until the big service later in the year, which I am currently saving for [&:]
