Browsing through a well known auction site recently, I was taken by a leather key case that looked like it matched the cabin theme of my 992 - Black with Guards Red deviated stitching.
Bull by the horns, i decided to speculate the 15 quid or so and see what turned up. I wasn't surprised to learn it was coming from China or that it would take a while to arrive. So I'd rather forgotten all about it when turned well before the estimated delivery date, via Royal Mail and accompanied by its official looking customs slip.
And I'm delighted with my new key case. It looks exactly like a genuine Porsche part as it comes well packaged in a very formal, official looking Porsche box with its part number printed thereon.
With my previous 991, I'd rather indulged myself and purchased an Alcantara case from the local PC. It cost me around £115 from memory and, side by side, I can't tell the difference. In fact, the new one looks to be rather better if anything, in terms of quality of the workmanship and materials.
Time will tell how well it wears, but it certainly looks the business and if I have to replace it in a year or so's time then I'll still be quids in. I really have no idea why one should be 10 times the price of the other!
