It's arrived

Well after a 6 month wait my Cayenne has finally arrived. I went and fitted 20" wheels and air suspension after a bit of pondering. Overall the car is ace! Takes a bit of getting used to, sitting so high up, but the air suspension helps reduce the roll through the corners.

Only bugbear is that my HTC 'phone doesn't work properly with the bluetooth in the car. It's a bit disappointing as it worked perfectly well in the A4. It's an easy fix though, a little bit of patience until my contract re-newal is due [;)]

Wish I'd ordered one sooner...

Well done Mike,
I'm liking you wish I bought one sooner comment. Now perhaps you can help me a bit, I'm thinking of collapsing my Range Rover Sport which I use all the time and my 9 month old Cayman S garage queen into one vehicle having loved my original Cayenne S. Possibly a new Cayenne D (Porsche badge and big 4x4 combined) is the answer. Could you drop the odd update on living with you new Porsche over the coming weeks as it beds in ie handling, performance, mpg and comfort. It would be good to have some feedback before I venture into the showroom and ask for a test drive.
Many Thanks

Paul

Paul, I got rid of my Cayman S garage queen 6 months ago when I placed the order for this. I wasn't using the car enough and knew it wouldn't be used for quite some time. I haven't missed it as much as I thought I would. Only on a few occasions have I wished it was there for a wee drive, but TBH, it was an extravagance.

This will be used a lot more an not be so molly coddled.

I'll do an update when I get a few more miles under it's wheels.

Paulo, I've attached a picture, maybe you can set that as your PC background! [;)]

Hi Mike

Lovely looking Cayenne & it looks good in White & them wheels look good too, I have a 24 hour test drive arranged with my dealership over the next few days.

I'm thinking of getting the Diesel in exchange for my Cayman S & my dealership has advised must cars they sale are White, Black, Grey or Silver visions but I'm more drawn to the Brown vision with the Brown seating as I think this look nice & I saw it for the first time at this years Geneva Motor Show & it looked good in this rare colour.

I also see from your Picture the Porsche dealership is right by the Range Rover dealership & I wonder how many customers go to the Range Rover dealership first & after testing a Sport then go next door & buy a Porsche Cayenne instead as I think the new Cayenne is a better looking SUV over the outdated Range Rover.

All the best Mike & enjoy your excellent new Cayenne. Yours Truly Kevin. [:)]

Thanks Kevin, hmm, another Cayman S going away for a Cayenne. Maybe... It's a huge change from the Cayman, obviously. I've just finished washing mine and I'd to get the steps out to do the roof properly. Never have I taken so long to wash a car before. If I was going to give it the full Zymol treatment I'd have to book time off work. [;)]

White is definately popular up in Aberdeen, it's not a big dealership but when I went to see mine there were 4 white Cayenne's round the back, inc mine. In the end you go for what you want, you never know, in a few years time your colour could be 'in'.

nice Cayman BTW, would you have contrasting colours on the Cayenne?

Hi Mike

I have just picked the Cayenne Diesel up from my Dealership & its a Creamy White with Black Wheels & I have been advised the spec on this Cayenne would cost near on £75,000.00 which I think is a bit over the top as I'm looking at spending £58,000.00

I was also advised if I ordered one upon my return on Friday yes I have been given the Cayenne till Friday as I thought I was only getting it for 24 Hours & as I was saying the delivery would be next March 2012 so if this is the case I may wait till the Porsche Cajum the all new baby Porsche SUV comes in 2013 as I would loss shed loads of money going for the Cayenne then exchanging it for the Cajum in 2013.

All the best & I'm looking forward to the extra days test drive & returning at 6pm on the Friday & am making a day of it tomorrow by attending the Goodwood Moving Motor Show in Sussex.

Yours Truly Kevin [:)]

£75,000.00, jeez, if I was paying that I'd be having the full fat Turbo version. Mine came in under your budget, by a few thousands, but not much. What all does the demo have, larger wheels than 20", Sat Nav, which I decided not to install, maybe the top spec speakers, I went for Bose, full leather, I stuck to standard leather seats in the grey. For what I plan on using the Cayenne as, 20" wheels were as big as I wanted to go. Any more and I feel the sidewall is too small for a big SUV crashing through all the glorious potholes we have nowadays.

I'd have thought waiting lists would be a bit shorter than March '12, that's 8-9 months, I was always quoted 6 months. Obviously a popular choice and I can see why now. I'm sure the Cajun will be a good car and can see why you're hesitant to go for the Cayenne when the Cajun is just round the corner. I'm glad I didn't wait but for some people the choice won't be as clear cut.

Let me know how the extended test drive goes Kevin. I'll be interested in your opinion.

Cheers,

Mike.

Thanks Mike, its turning into a good thread and with Kevin's second opinion with his extended test drive I should have some varied views on living with a Cayenne D. On the subject of options my Cayenne S was an ex Porsche HQ vehicle which had a mega options list and I know I'd be adding more than I probably need if I ordered one from new and can see how Kevin got to his figure.
Anyway looks nice in white look forward to your updates.
Kevin I hear the CAYenne JUNior will be on a reworked Q5 platform, having just bought one of those for the Wife it will take some rework to make it sit well between a 911 and a Cayenne.

Paul

Thanks Paul, it does look nice but when I washed it you can see every little speck of tar[] And being of a slight stature I need the stepladders to get the roof done properly....

My cousin has a Q5, so when I get back I'm going to try to swap of motors for a wee while, just to compare them both. Maybe he'll let me compare the Cayenne against his RS4 too[;)]
