So I thought I would bore you all with some of my current activity!! It's mot time and I know my suspension and bearings are a bit wobbly, so I thought I would have a go myself. The shopping list was:

Spax adjustable dampers
Front arb
Front caliper repair kit
Brake switches
Ebc red stuff
Hard brake lines(these are only on the list because I broke the old ones!!)
Wheel bearings
Front hubs
Front ball joints
Ss flexible lines
+ all the lovelly nik naks that holds this stuff together

I've now had the wifes car for 3 days(she's not happy, especially has we now have our replacement cayenne for the friday afternoon one we had before, but that's another story!!)
Everything I touched was a nightmare. Luckilly I am add with my trusty dremmel with cut of wheel attachment. It's great when that difficult nut falls in two halfs!!! And the pesky ball joint nut too!!! I've also disobered the perfect size lump hammer to remove the bottom cotter pin on the leg, 4.5lbs. So evening 3:
Everything is off and cleaned
Rebuilt caliper last night with new seals and so on
Will put it all together and make new brake pipes

Will post back with some pics and experiences, any tips, pleeeeeeas jump in, I knew it would be tough but not this tough...

Cheers
Alex

Top tip 1:
After having to do some nasty things to a balljoint to make it fit, I then discovered the notch that lines up with the a arm was too small.
Always measure holes and notches first !!
I have now destroyed that balljoint getting it out again...

It warms up quite quickly once you get going!! Although saying that I have asked mum for a heater this Xmas...

My main concern at the moment is that the car has been lifted on the front offside for over a week now. Probably doesn't matter, but I't doesn't feel right leaving it twisted.

Why dont you lift the other side as well just to balance it up until you get your work complete.

I only have a single garage, so the car was positioned in such a way that I had loads of room on the side I was working and none on the other!! Did manage to get the wheel back on last night after ordering some original ball joints, which do fit..

People think I'm mad with my 4.5lb club hammer [:D]

I find the others make too much noise and bounce around too much for my liking.

My carrera is in the air until all the nasty salt has been washed away.

Only got mine lifted at the rear at the moment.

What I would like is some sort of custom jack arrangement. Sort of drive in and lift, bit of a faf messing about with the hydraulic jack and lumps of wood.

Guys,

I've just discovered silicone spray which helped me get my front arb into the bushes, however, I cant get them both in at the same time.....anyone know the secret "knack" to doing it?

cheers
Alex

Try attaching a couple of ratchet straps hooked to the A arm brackets like so...

Grrrrrr I give up!!! Think I will try and get it on ramp and push one end in much further .. Or last resort, drop the arm...
