It's gone

Well, after 4.5 years of Cayman S ownership it has finally ended. I got the car sold privately today. Had to give myself a good shake as it drove away...
Got the next Porsche on order, but the new one is slightly different, bigger, slower but better equipped for the winter. No guesses on postcards as it's pretty obvious. Always had tractors in my blood[;)]
I'll still keep looking in now and then to see what news there is, maybe in the future I'll re-aquaint myself with the driving seat of a Cayman.

Sorry Dyllan, not a 998 4S, well not yet anyway. I've had my 1st midlife crisis, just had it in my early 30's!, so another one will be around in a few years. I'll now have to get a stepladder to wash the roof of the new motor... Alan, I wonder what a Cayman body on Cayenne running gear would look like, couldn't be any worse than an X6, that does get my vote for most pointless SUV.

Hi Mike How did the private sale go? How long did it take and did you get what you expected for it (not asking for a figure)? Just interested as in a year or so I may be selling mine on. Thanks All the best. Cecil

Cecil, the sale took a while, but that was more down to the weather. With hindsight I'd have sold it a month or so earlier and I'd have probably moved it quicker and might have got a bit more for it. The buyer waited 2 weeks before he could travel from Durham to Aberdeen. I'd put the car in Autotrader for 2 weeks an it took almost all that time before the buyer got in touch, but there were a few other calls previously. I did also drop my price a bit, but knew that if I held out I'd end up re-advertising it and probably asking less 2nd time round. I was still happy enough with what I recieved, which is the main thing. Good luck if you do sell yours.

Thanks Mike. That's useful to know. Given the time of year, economic climate etc., 2 weeks seems relatively quick (not that i've sold a Porsche before). All the best.
