Some of you may have noticed that winter is here. Well its been around for some time already up in the northern parts of Europe. Temperatures in northern Finland are already down to -15 with lots of snow about. In the new year I will be heading off to the arctic circle for my third attempt at cracking ice and snow driving at Porsches "Ice Force". This allows me to play with a Gen 2 Turbo with studded tyres and I cant wait.

There are now a lot of courses available for winter driving:

Porsche Offer:

Camp 4
Camp 4S
Ice Force

I have done Camp 4 and 4S and can not recommend them highly enough.

Tuthill offer a flexible package for air cooled fans at:

And I see in this months Post a French company is now using a GT RS on snow:

Choice has never been better why not give it a go?

Happy memories [:)]

btw Bob a Cayenne tow out = a hole punched in your name tag.

Now there are prizes for the least and the most amount of holes.

btw You must have at least one hole otherwise you don't know the limit or aren't trying hard enough!!

Tip: There are a couple of timed sections, (friendly competition, no pressure!!!), and it actually faster to have the PSM on yes I did say ON as the car knows when to apply best to apply the power ie when there is grip etc. OFF is more fun but sideways is slower.

btw If you were expecting a mix of manual and PDK cars then think again. All with the exception of a couple of spare Turbos are PDK. If you are bordering on being stuck PDK is useless. You try rocking a PDK from reverse to forward quickly to get unstuck...... it is never going to happen!!!

Thanks Nick looks like I need to learn how to use a PDK box before I go.

Mr Moderator please can I borrow your Gen 2 Turbo!!

At Camp 4 S I only had one off that needed a tow when I was going too fast to try and beat my co driver and hit some sheet ice with zero grip and ended up on a snow bank much to my co drivers delight. Lots of other offs but managed to recover

For those of you who have no idea what we are on about this is what you are trying to avoid:
