I've done something stupid, or have I?

Having sold my 964 and my 1998 944 the pain of not owning a porsche was getting to much. So after working some magic on the boss, we drove from derby to blackpool on wed night to have a look at a 1987 lux. 260mile round trip and didn't like the flamingo colour. We then stopped at wilmslow on way back to look at an early 85 lux. It's now 9.30pm and positively dark! With little history, 89k, with belts and clutch done only 10k ago I bought it and drove it back!!!
What a feeling from driving a 21yr old car [:)]. Was amazed the following morning at the overall condition of the car. Paintwork excellent and the interior superb, quite like the early dash.
Have booked it in for a service and MOT so will wait and see what exactly I have bought[:(] .
Be prepared for plenty of questions over the coming months.

Welcome back to the fold Simon. I'm sure someone here will have answers to any questions you come up with.
Can you post some pictures, we all like to see what each other are driving.

I used to have a white 1985 944 Lux and loved it. White cookie cutters - it looked superb... and drove as it looked! I often wonder what happened to it.

I sold it when it became obvious that with two very small children, it was getting used less and less. There's only a certain amount of baby equipment that can go into the back of a 944 ! Added to that, it had no rear seat belts and Porsche would only agree to fit lap belts.... at some astronomical fee I seem to recall. It simply made sense (at that time) to sell it.

Since then, I've gone the other way from you Simon and recently bought a 964... which I'm enjoying immensely. Also, like you, I couldn't resist buying another Porsche.

Would love to see some pictures of your car.... !

I admire your courage Simon, buying a 21 year old car in the dark and driving it straight home is not for the faint hearted - sometimes these things just have to be done [:D]

Welcome to the fold, and we're ready for the questions [;)]
