Well folks...... After months and months of searching, deliberating and sometimes despairing on Saturday 28th April I finally became the owner of a 1997 Vesuvius grey, RHD, manual 993 C2S! Went way over my budget but know I'll get over it and happy with the price I paid. Bought it privately so washed and waxed it straight away. I can truly say that I have never enjoyed cleaning a car so much!

Cheers,
Alex

Well done, welcome, congratulation etc.

Now we want some pictures! (ideal time to take them now you have spent time waxing it)

Congratulations! Vesuvius is one of my favourite colours, so get some pictures posted ASAP![:D]

Right, apologies for my lame computer skills but how can I get pics on the forum without changing them into a URL??

was that car located near chipping nortan from a guy with a window company ?

if so I took it out for a test drive and left a deposit on it about a month ago. However on the way home the colour just didn't do it for me...its an acquired taste...

thats the same car.. just wasn't my cup of tea and because I was only going to keep my c2s for 18months resale value was also important.. after talking to several dealers it was a hard colour to shift apparently...anyway as long as you like it thats the main thing!!!

settled on a mint midnight blue in the end.. will post some pics soon

Dealers! They're an amazing breed, aren't they? Lovely looking car that. Vesuvius has to be one of the best Porsche colours ever. But I suppose I might be a bit biased.......[:D]

Yep.... Must agree with Oliver! Drove it to work on Monday and had nothing but praise on the Vesuvius colour.... and this was from a fickle bunch of 20 and 30 somethings!!!

yup nice car enjoy it.. we should get group meet going just for S cars ?

Maybe there should be a separate forum for you S guys!!, so the rest of us don't have to feel quite so jealous with all these posts every day.[;)]
It does seriously look a nice car. I vote for the colour. Almost as good as black.[:D]

Real shame that the 997S has same body as the non-S, has removed some of the magic.

Alex. Well done lovely choice. I have one in the same colour. When my brother, who found it told me of the colour I wasn't too sure but now I love it. Makes a change from blue, black and silver as well. Far more of a statement. Mine also has the mirrors colour coded as the spoiler. The colour on the VIN is shown as L40X LT. I can only find 40W in the colour code lists anybody know what the difference is?
Enjoy.
John.

Truly gorgeous, love the colour... makes me feel like going out and cleaning mine!
Congrats, you've just bought the first car you may never be able to part with... would have to be something very special coming out of Stuttgart to make me consider selling mine.
Aircooled
Depreciation proof
Those sexy haunches!

How could there be anything better?
Well done!
Rick
