Hi all I'm thinking of upgrading my 997 3.8 c2s with a ix51 upgrade is there any useful info ie do I need to fit a different MAF? Will my engine man light come on? Is it easy for my Indy to cut boot lid to access both ducts on new airbox?? Any advice good or bad will be much a appreciated
Also thinking of iridium plugs??

Thanks guys

Hi does anyone have any usefull info or experience of this IX51 air box upgrade?? Thoughts on iridium plugs are they worth the extra money??

Back again guys well after a lot of digging here's what I've found I can't just bolt the new fancy air box as this works with a different pendulum and updated head (gas flowed) also ecu remap so I dnt think this would give me much if any gains with my 200 cell cats and full ss system :-(
If anyone knows diff give me a heads up??

Cant comment on the IX51 except that JZM have a second hand air box for £995 - they might be able to advise on the specifics.

Iridium plugs are not worth the money for most applications.

X51 was a serious piece of work, basically top half the engine with a much bigger air intake t the engine, plenum and fancy carbon inbox also seemed to cure the bore and other engine problems f you believe the various articles out there. Basically its a trip to Porsche fort he x51 upgrade or doing
something different.

Try Porscheshop for the air intakes, Ian's got a good one (we) designed it to improve the breathing on the the stock car and x51 upgrade it works really well with a 200 cell exhaust upgrade as in standard form not enough air gets into the engine at low to medium speed to get the best out of the exhaust.

Works really well with certain engine remaps - Ian can tell you which/who.

I did a lot of work on my Gen 1 x51 with Ian to get the best out of the engine starting with a miltek 200 cell low back pressure exhaust ad added air intake, remap from their then the brake and suspension to match) the guys in the club nicknamed it the beast - the combined exhaust/induction noise was
to die for, it also ate mot non turbo things on the road for breakfast as well...

Hope this helps

Thanks so looks like the air box if an IX51 will work with my standard pendulum I did think that would help with my 200cell cats and full system just worried about engine light etc as this already flags up with the exhaust and airfliter and intake upgrade I've had it checked and reset just O2 sensors picking up :-(
Thanks for usefull info guys
