Jacking points?

Hi folks.
Where is the best place to jack up the front of the car and place axle stands without removing the undertray?
Thanks.

Steve

Don't be tempted to use the sump or any cross members! If you've got a trolley jack, use the front part of the 'chassis rails' running front to rear just below the A-post for both jacking and axle stands. The exact locations are shown in the owner's manual if you've got one handy.

Thanks Alan. I assumed that would be the case, but thought it wise to check before I jacked it up in the wrong place and bent the chassis!

I haven't personally had a problem but others have reported that the official jack point under the drivers footwell can sometimes actually bend the floor slightly and this then leads to a sticky throttle pedal.

Call me paranoid but I always put the the axle stand under the passnger side first, so it takes most of the weight and then do the drivers side afterwards.

The 'cure' for sticky pedal caused by this is to put a thick towel in the drivers footwell and hit it with a heavy lump hammer a few times [&:] Technical eh?

Time for the disclaimer about hitting your car with a hammer is entirely at your own risk as is the same for following any of the advice given by the miscreants in here [8D]

Got this off of Rennlist, any help?

Jim.

Yep, seen that more than once on 924/944 cars, when the jack is not used in the right place. In extreme situations, it results in the throttle going over centre into the full throttle position & not returning.

If you can get a jack under, the rear mount of the wishbone is a good place, but on low cars you may be better jacking up on the rear torsion bar cover plate. This lifts both wheels off the ground in one movement.

I agree - I always go for the castor mount blobk at the front, and I tend to use the rear shock mount for the back.
