Hell there, just posting on here for the 1st time. just placed a deposit on a new diesel Cayenne, need to be sensible from time to time... Had a Cayman S for the last 4.5 years but haven't used it nearly enough to justify so selling it. I'll be getting rid of the A4 as well when the Cayenne arrives. Hopefully I'll enjoy the Cayenne as much as I did the Cayman S and I'll use it more.
 
Good choice. The new Cayenne is fabulous - if you need a luxury SUV, and the Diesel is the logical choice with excellent economy, performance and refinement.

But, it bears no relation to the Porsche 'sportscars' - Boxster/Cayman/997. It's really an alternative to a RR, X5, BMW, Audi, Merc.

Dynamically, it is very clever, for its size/weight, but the ultimate driving qualities of a Cayman will be in another league - except perhaps when the weather is as foul as we've had this winter[;)][;)].
 
That's one of the main reasons I'm changing, the weather up here. The Cayman would also make the girlfriend carsick within a few miles and I was taking it easy too[:D]. Don't like the Q7, RR, X5 alternatives as I know too many people with them already, so can't be seen to be a copycat.
Looking forward to getting the keys already. Just hope the date comes forward a bit as I've been told it's 6 months wait.
 
Was looking at one in the OPC yesterday and am really growing to like the looks of the new shape. You'll find that the handling of a Cayenne is streets ahead of the RR, Merc equivalents - it really is great fun when hustled along. In fact mine's been used a couple of times on 997 runs...
Definitely get yourself winter wheels and tyres if weather conditions are a factor for you, they've made all the difference again this year.

And btw, often the 'six months wait, sir' shrinks if you push the opc. Slots often appear due to cancellations.
 
Ben, I'm keeping it simple(ish) for the options, you can really get carried away.
Bluetooth, i-pod connector, multi function wheel, bose, heated seats, xenons and a towbar are my choices. Obviously Porsche's options which you must take increase the price somewhat [;)]
I might change the wheels from standard, but at the moment standards are staying. Not wanting it too blinged up as it's to be a do everything motor.
I've been looking at ordering a spare set of wheels with winter tyres already fitted. I have this for the A4 at the mo' and it's the way ahead. No need to worry about just getting to the tyre depot when an early snow shower hits us.
I hope it does come forward a bit, I keep going back on the configurator and the more I do that, the more I want to add on.....
 
Hi Mike, I've had my Cayenne diesel since June and spec'd 20"Sport Design II wheels and All Season mud and snow tyres, which I've found to be a great compromise, for a bit of light off roading as well as being brilliant in the recent snow. The wheels look the bizz and allow you to run up kerbs etc without worrying about scraping the rims. May be worth considering adding a collapsible spare wheel to your list, so you have the choice of changing a wheel if you get a puncture. Hope your car comes soon, you'll not be disappointed! Bearing in mind the long waiting list, I've already placed an order for my next one!

Spook, that's good to hear you've already ordered another Cayenne, if you've a GT3 gen 2 as well that's a glowing recommendation. I'm just sticking with 18" wheels, keep the ride comfort as high as possible. I did wonder about spec'ing the M&S tyres, but think a spare set of full winter tyres is better for me. I've passed far too many RR's etc during the heavy snow in my A4 with proper winter tyres fitted, the Cayenne should be pretty impressive with full winters on.
The wheels in Techquipment are the Cayenne S III 18" wheels with winter tyres, so might spec them to keep all rims the same. I'm very suprised how competitive the price for them are when I was enquiring with my OPC.
Been configurating again. Oh dear.....
