1st Porsche I've owned Mostly BMW/Alpina before now, but as I've always admired Porsche's from an early age I thought I'd better get the dream out the way before I'm to old to appreciate it, may be a short lived affair as I might find it hard to justify having twice as much money in a car compared to my House (although it was over 25 years ago that I paid 50K for my House [:D])

Welcome along Chris, I hope the forum has been of use whilst you've been lurking [:)]

Similar delivery time as Alex then... I think you've made the right choice in taking it straight away, its said to make a difference come time to sell it on, but only of a couple of hundred pounds... you'll certainly have more fun using it than that [:D]

Quite a few people have said to me about which estate agent did I buy the car from...[;)]

Great spec, but why the extra steering wheel ?? [;)]

maybe for this http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=71v1Yznz2rc [;)]

Glad you noticed this as I questioned it when I first got the Spec Sheet I was then told that "Three-Spoke Multi-Function Steering Wheel In Smooth Leather" is £40 and that the Thicker Wheel was a UK only adding an extra £428 but I've since noticed on the Porsche configurator that the Thicker wheel is only £138 and can not be ordered with the "Three-Spoke Multi-Function Steering Wheel In Smooth Leather" So I shall need to keep a check on this

I have the same thing. You can't apparently order the Thicker MFSW without selecting (and paying for) the Standard MFSW first.

I guess this is becuase it is an exclusive option, and as such they throw away (in a skip!) original parts that are replaced. I guess you need to specify the standard MFSW first otherwise all the wiring would be missing for the replacement exclusive thicker one that goes on afterwards. It's only like 40 quid though.

Does seem a bit odd.

With regards to whats on the online configurator, you won't find the thicker MFSW wheel version on there (unless you go to the german site), only the thicker 3-spoke version.

Good choice for your first one then - and a fair bit more grunt than the Alpina!!
Thing is, who would want to live in a house when you can drive a car like that?!!! [:)]

just picked my 997tt up on 25th from porsche factory, black + black great car, had 750 miles of driving back from germany

I had a similar dilemma. My 997 TT arrived early July but I was going away on 14th so it was a difficult decision as to whether to get the car as soon as it was available and drive it for a few days then lock it up and leave it in the garage for 2.5 weeks or wait until August to take delivery. I chose the early delivery option and am glad I did, despite all the comments that my 18 year old daughter enjoyed driving it whilst we were away! (That would have been difficult as we took both keys and tracking tokens with us).

If I were you, I would get it as soon as possible and enjoy it! It really should be a great change from the Beemers.
