As in previous years, we appreciate some members may be busy on weekends and would like to try to fit in something mid-week instead. We will once again be traveling across country to meet with our friendly neighbors over in R18, at David Hayton Cars, Grearshill Road, Carlisle CA3 0EW.

We aim to arrive around 18.30 on Tuesday 4th April and spend a couple of hours tyre kicking, chewing the fat and of course having a good old look around their Lotus showroom and used prestige cars, always a couple of nice Porsches lurking somewhere. They also kindly allow us to have a look around their workshops at any interesting items they may be working on at the time, oh and not to mention checking on how work is progressing with the restoration of a lovely 930 Turbo they also own.

If you are a new member this could be a great chance to come along and meet us in a smaller group and may be a little less daunting for some, all welcome. Who knows if the weather is good it may even be a good excuse to head back home via Hartside.

Looking to leave the North East around 17.30 from Grande Tyres Whickham NE16 3DA or alternatively we could meet at the new Hexham BP Services,

NE47 7EL en route and travel across together.

If you would like to join us please add to this thread.

Sounds great, would it be an option to meet at the little chef at Bardon Mill or even at our campsite near Haltwhistle?

Thanks Steve, great ideas, we can see what the interest is and maybe include meeting at your campsite on the way across.

Hi Greg

John and I would like to come along. The Hexham meeting point is closest for us, will you let us know nearer the time which meeting point you are going to use?

many thanks

Ruth

Welcome Ruth, yes we will firm everything up when we get a better idea of who would like to go.

Slow uptake despite plenty of members expressing they wish to go. (Possibly down to time constraints)

So as arranged Deb & I will be leaving from Grande Tyres Whickham NE16 3DA AT 5.30 (CLOSING TIME) heading west on the A69 and aiming to drop into the new Hexham BP Services just off A69 NE46 4NU around 6.00 for a quick turn around to pick up anyone waiting there, then continuing onto David Haytons Carlisle CA3 0ET.

I'll be there - will meet you at Hexham services. May have George in his RS4 and Jaz in his Hurracan with me too - or may be on my Tod, who knows!

Sorry Greg, can't make this one.

Would need to leave home at about 4:30 and the Boss says I have too much work on to finish early

Yet another very enjoyable visit to David Hayton's. The staff there are always very informative and enthusiastic about the sales cars they have on site and show great interest in our own vehicles that we take over. Unfortunately there's been no progress on the 930 since our last visit as they've been too busy, they've promised there'll be something to see next time. Thanks again to Mike Trotter R18 ARO for putting this together, it's always good to have a catch up with our friends and neighbours in R18.

Unfortunately a bit of a rush going over after work, but capped off the evening with a nice meal with great company at the Howard Arms in Brampton on the way back.

Cracking run out, even though it seems I kept getting lost, fun catching up though[:)] Again, a very warm welcome form David Hayton's and a lot of cracking cars on display and very well prepped. Jesus, those GTR's are huge and that Ferrari California was very good value, looked like it had been enjoyed as it had just shy of 50k on the clock. Not something you see in a Ferrari very often. But I think my favourite was either the Peugeot GTI or the Candy Red Boxster, stunning condition.

To end it all, a good chinwag and laugh at the Howard Arms in Brampton (very pretty place). Thanks to Mark and Sally for that one.

Will post pics later
