Juddering from the front tyres...

I get this at full lock forward and backwards, and also turning sharp into my drive. Have read about it being caused by the tyres but not sure - I have an 08 2.7

Hi I get it to forward and back. Its because you are trying to force the tyre to go sideways because the forces being applied are not in the rotational direction anymore. On cars with narrow tyres you don't notice it because they slip where as wide tyres don't because of the surface area. I hope this makes sense Cayman 3.4 S 2006 19" tyres

An annual post at this time of the year when the temperatures drop to around 0 degC. As Trevor says, it's the tyres skipping across the road surface as you reverse on, or near, full lock. Perfectly normal on a wide-tyred car; nothing to worry about. Jeff

ORIGINAL: Sylvian On full lock while reversing. Anybody have any ideas what's going on? It's a 2013 cayman 2.7.
What you are experencing if perfectly normal for a summer tyre compound during cold weather. It is more prenounced on a sports cars due to the way the car is normally setup (See anti-ackerman steering if you want to know more).

It is interesting as I noticed this (some shudder but more squealing on mine) whilst manoeuvering recently in a large garage with limited room between cars. Never had it on 987 Boxsters nor the GTS, why only on the 981 Cayman? Is it Pirelli tyres, the particular set up of the Cayman? For what it is worth the Toe measurement of my Cayman is +0 01' (each of L & R) whereas the GTS was +0 03' (each of L & R) - both from full set ups measured on the same Beissbarth equipment. I confess to being an accountant so have no idea of what any of that means but I did I anticipate Melv's advice and stopped using full lock.
